I'm decorating Ava's room with a woodland theme, I haven't seen any lampshades I like so was thinking of buying a plain one and customising it, bit stuck on ideas though, so you just use fabric glue? could I buy my own fabric to glue on? Im a bit clueless.......help!

I decorated Dexter's lampshade myself, I bought some felt and sewed it on but it was hard work as lampshades are usually backed with a thin plastic. I would think fabric glue would be fine though, my mum uses it alot on various things and it always ok for her.

I also did Libbys, I bought a paper shade and just glued (pva glue) the decorations on it.

The BEST fabric glue is Gutermann HT2, I use it for my bag making, and it's mega!


What I would suggest is adding some interfacing to the fabric first - that way its stiffer, and so then it's easier to cut and glue on - especially if you are doing fiddly shapes. It also means the edges won't fray if you use cotton
