| Can anyone recommend some nice interesting cities to visit? It's Matt's birthday Dec 11th and seen as I failed to do anything exciting for him last year I was thinking I might book a hotel for the weekend. It's looking unlikely we'll have anyone to look after the children - Matt's Mum is freaking out about having them for 2-3hrs while I watch a film when they'll both be asleep so don't think she'll have them longer, so don't need anything super romantic, just somewhere with interesting things to do/see.
We're just outside Bedford/Milton Keynes and probably don't want to travel more than a couple of hours. |

| I think wherever you will go in December will be lovely as it will be all christmassy. I would probably try to go for somewhere like the Cotswolds (not a city) and do some Xmas shopping in the pretty little shops x |

| York is lovely and would be so nice to see at christmas. Belfast is an interesting city to visit but too far away with two little ones.
Maybe somewhere that has a christmas market |

| Liverpool is great! Shopping is great and the nightlife is great too. There's loads to do in the daytime such as Beatles museum and city tours in a yellow sub marine bus that turns into a ferry lol! There are tonnes of museums and you could check what's on in the evening at the arena. Manchester is also brilliant, and Chester is great too. I just live city breaks and think where ever you go it will be great and christmassy and you can have a great time waterer your budget. Oh and I used to do loads of city breaks and we always used to end up afternoon drinking |
