Worried mummy! _
PostSubject: Worried mummy!   Worried mummy! EmptyFri Oct 28, 2011 7:26 pm

I know kids do things in their own time. Emma is two year eight months and has been a slow speaker. She shows no interest in the potty, doesn't say when she's done a wee. She loves peppa pig so we got her a peppa loo seat but she gets really scared and worried about going on. Do I leave her a bit longer? Or put her on during the day. I'm just a bit worried she's quite late to come to it. Any tips?

Hmmm I'm not sure I'd force it too much as it could have a negative effect, get her use to the seat being around and encourage her! Maybe you could get her a seat that fits straight on the toilet seat? I've not started yet with Charlie but I'm thinking about doing it pretty soon!

The peppa pig seat fits on the loo and she's obsessed with peppa but she gets really worried and just yells stuck. Same with the potty. We have a baby bjorn potty seat so it's super comfortable :-(

Hey KItty, Alice is the same she has no interest we went to mario's and C has a stepladder thing to the toilet, she was copying C and went on it all the time even doing a wee on it once, so we bought her the same one and NOTHING! she will sit on it but never wees, she does the same with the potty too. but she will wearknickers for over an hour without any accidents. but this morning we left her bare bummed and she went into meltdown for her nappy back on!

not sure what else to do other than wait now

Hey Jo, that's really good to know it's not just Emma. Most of her friends seem to have taken to it but she hasn't. Oh well I keep hearing about how one day it will click and she'll just do it.

Btw Jo your girls pics on fb are adorable.

Im lost too. I know Caitlin is only 2yrs 3 months but I dont imagine she will be potty trainned for quite some time. She is terrified of potty and will only sit on it with nappy on. She screams at the idea of toilet. Spent one morning a few weeks ago letting her run around nappy free and she literally just pissed all over the floor. It did annoy her a bit and there was tears but if you sat her on potty mid pee she went absolutely mental. After an hr she had calmed downa bit and was just weeing on floor then getting a baby wipe and wiping it up after herself and then carrying on playing Rolling Eyes The fact she weed about 6 times in 45 min makes me think that Caitlin not quite ready as her bladder control seems poor.

I think/HOPE they just do it in their own time. I really wanted Caitlin trained for baby coming but its not looking likely. Think im gona give it one more shot next week when im off and then just leave it a few more months. I get anxious when I see other toddler potty trainning between 2 and 2.5 and doing so well but they are all different and I guess this is just something Caitlin going to be slower at.

Oh and btw not sure speech is much to do with it. Caitlin has spoke quite well for a few months now eg full conversations and has no interest in potty and yet a friends LO is 2yrs 5 mths and barely speaks and he potty trained within 1 day last month. I was certain Caitlin would do it 1st... but nope, yet another toddler friend is trained and Caitlin doesnt give a monkeys!
