I was in my local BP garage this morning and purchased £20 worth of petrol with my Visa Debit card. Anyway, just as I was walking away, I noticed that the payment screen said 'Points Awarded ### and Points Total ####' (I cant remember what the figures were. So... I am pretty sure that the woman behind the counter was stealing Nectar points from people who didnt hand over a Nectar card. She only gave me a visa reciept, and not a till reciept. Part of me thinks that I should report her, why should somebody like that have a job, when there are hard working people who are desperate for work. Im not sure if it is petty though? x

Hmmm it's a tough one, part of me thinks that they are going to waste and why not but she shouldn't be taking advantage of her position like that!

yeah its an offense. there was a woman in the co op by me who was doing that, when people didnt have a card she was putting them on hers. so got found out and was sacked. was a sackable offense. sure few people do it, but she wasnt too bright think she was doing it on every transaction so she was having 100s point a day DUH x

Yeah, I do agree. If she had asked me then I would have been more than happy to let her have them, it just bugs me that she just took them x

My friends brother got sacked a few years ago for something similar. He was 16 at the time and was in Sainsburys, he didint have the wit either to realise getting hundreds points a day would raise suspicion It is stealing & I understand its the principal but personally I wouldnt report it. It wouldnt bother me if someone used unwanted points. I dont think its worth risking someone losing a job over. Id feel guilty/worry that I was somewhat responsible for her losing her job/tarnishing her employment history. What if she has kids and they have a crappy xmas? I know its her fault though, Im perhaps to forgiving by nature. It would be different though if she was stealing cash, I know nectarcard wouldnt see it like that but I can distinguish between the two. If she is doing it for every customer they will be quick to catch on without you informing them anyway.... Do what morally feels right for you. Personally I wouldnt bother, she isnt harming the customers & its between her and her employer. xxx
