Why do these milstones always seem REALLY wrong?!
Seriously they think that's what normal kids of Izzys age do?!
I know they have to allow for the fact some kids are slower...but I dont know any of Izzys friends that are that far behind! Even the advanced skills seem way too basic for a child that age...Seriously if they were accurate then Izzy and her mates are all at about age 5

I don't check them very often at all cos each time i realise they are daft....but its hard to know what is 'normal' and therefore how do you know you are doing a good job at teaching them?! Obviously you can ask on forums lol ... and hope other parents will reply back with what stage their child is at..but surely there is some real gauge as to whats to be expetced?!

They seem to be ok lower down so I guess its just as they get higher. What I love is that exploring genitals is an advanced skill for 20 month olds. Jamie discovered his willy months ago as did most of his male friends. I thought that was just a skill men were born with

yeah, i had a look at the milestones recently too and they are waaaaaaay out, even by the skills the nursery are working on with Sophs, they are way above some of the things mentioned for her age on babycentre but its not skills she is trying out coz she is a super genius or anything, its just where most children in her class are at or there abouts.

So yeah, it would be good to knopw aht would be a true benchmark. I googled it and came up with loads of charts but they all seem to undersell the skills for the age of the child.

Im pretty sure Izzy is no genius, she is clever but not to the extent those charts would have anyone believe!

No i think most of them vastly underestimate children tbh. C is bright but by those charts shes more advanced than most 5 year olds. Ridiculous really

hmm, Arwyn can't do some of the things in 13-15month milestones, maybe I need to train her better

well checked Avas and it says she's advanced for exploring her genitals, she must be a genius she's done it for months!

Lol. Not just men then! Jamie discovered his months ago so I would think that should be before 6 months

The only one we have problems with is the teeth brushing under supervision... we have to headlock Aimee to get her to brush her teeth , pmsl x

Ollie's way behind on his speech and some other things but is average for other things :S You've all got geniuses!
