One of my best mates works with me. I am her boss. She works part time and has just left her husband so has asked to increase her hours to full time, which has been agreed.

Anyway, my boss has come to me this morning and asked me to hand over all of my work to her (ready for when I go on maternity leave) as he wants her to cover it.

But... this is going to make me effectively redundant!

Im not sure I want to come back anyway, but I am not impressed that they have pretty much got a permenant replacement for me and I simply wont have a job to come back to!

I have got a meeting with him on Monday so I am going to bring this up with him.

He basically wants to get in her knickers and she will probably oblige (not being horrible to my mate, but she loves people in power).

well techically he cant do that permanantly Laura so just take is as she is covering you until you go back (or not )

Don't they have togive you your job back though?

I am sure that I will have a job to come back to, but just not sure it will be mine.

In addition to that, if I did come back on that basis... I wouldnt have anything to do as there just isnt the work.

Hun I think you need to sit tight, give Kelly your work and put ya feet up for now. This could all end up working in your favour anyway

If and when you make your final decision about whether to go back or not you would be in a good position to push for a redundancy package rather than just leave. If you decide to go back Ian has no choice but to give you your job back. Win win really Hun. Play your cards close to your chest and see what happen
