| Hi everyone, Well yesterday I fell over whilst out shopping. I landed on my knee so my bumb didnt actually hit the floor. I dont remember falling just being on the floor. I was in shock for a while but my OH and mum pursuaded me to call the hospital they took me in and put me on a ctg to monitor the baby heartbeat. She was fine but they detected ++protine and +blood in my urine my blood pressure was low and after a blood test found I was anemic (sp). Ok so my question is what could be the problem with my urine? I know protein can show pre-eclamsia but my blood pressure was low so it cant be that. Also I saw M/W on monday and she showed no interest and just tested my urine so quickly could she have missed problems because of rushing (she was an hour late for work) because I was thinking that it must start of with +protein before it becomes ++. I have to call midwife in a week for urine results. Another question is can you change your midwife via request if you are not happy? Thank you for any replies and sorry if it is in the wrong place |

| Hello!
The ++ I think can be an urine infection, its quite common!
Anaemia - dont worry lots of pregnant ladies do become anaemic - if you cant stomach the iron tablets (they make some people ill and poo problems!) try SpaTone - your doctor can prescribe if you ask as its not cheap - its a natural mineral water that much better than tablets!
If you want to change MW you need to speak to the head MW for the hospital |

| Thank you for your reply. I am on 2 iron tablets a day since yesterday they havent made me feel ill yet but it is early days so I will see how it goes. Yes my blood count was fine at 12 week bloods but it has dropped since is what the doctor at the hospital said. I think I will speak to them on Monday because tbh its a range of things she has said or done that has made me think ok I am not too sure about her. |

| Aww sorry you fell, and now you have these issues. Take your iron tablets with orange juice as this will help the poo problems you'll probs end up getting. as for changing mw, i think you need to talk to the gp surgery about how it works. xx |

| Well the first problem was at my 12 week scan I guess I can see if people think I am overreacting regarding my main issue. When we had our 12 week scan she referred to mental disability as "retarded" that shocked me because I thought this was not to be said and especially not what I expected a health proffessional to say then her being late and so uninterested in my appointment has made me and OH talk about changing the M/W just wasnt sure if I could as this is my first but thank you I will contact my GP on Monday he is usualy very supportive |

| I quite agree - retarded is a horrible word to use Its hard to put up with an unenthusiastic MW - I wouldn't for sure! You want someone who is there to support you, not make you feel like they can't be bothered |

| Yea thats the point exactly I just feel like she cant be bothered with us and we saw a different m/w for our 16 week blood results and tbh she was the kind of m/w I wish I had she was very nice and kind and funny and made an effort so fx I can change but you get attached a m/w via your surgery, so there are 4 m/w's in my hospital/area and they are conneced to a surgery if that makes sense not sure if all areas are the same. |

| I will talk to my GP see what he says I dont really wanna say what she said to me but I may have to, as I need to make it clear this is not the m/w i cna see myself ever being happy with if that doesnt work I saw a number on my red notes for "supervisor of midwives" I will use that as my last result |
