sooo i just went online to check my bank as its my 1st pay day since i started my new job just over 3 weeks ago!! logged onto my bank and they have only paid me £232 for doing a total of 78hours!!!

im am absoultly gutted as its jamies birthday next week and we were using that money for his party and presents and also xmas the week after!! there must be a mistake along the line sumwhere as ive worked it out that i shud be gettin aat LEAST £450!

i know that might not seem a huge differnce to some people but i have a phonebill of £50 to pay off this month, i owe £150 to a friend and anohter £50 to childminder! that the whole wage gone and more!!

and to top it off OH was supposed 2 get paid on monday and theyve turned around and said they cant afford to pay him as the jobs theyve done they havent been paid for yet (electritions)! so the mortgage comes out in 3days and neither of us have anything!

im seriosuly freaking out big time! soooo not a happy bunny right now! im in work 2day so gonna go speak2 my manager about why ive only been paid this much! so not what we needed right now!

I would check your pay slip first. Its possible that you've been put on an emergency tax code which means you'll be able to claim the money back. Admittedly it doesn't help you now. Adam had this when he started his current job. Worked out quite well as they realised he'd been on the wrong tax code at his last job as well and he got back over £4000

i would check the pay slip too, this happened too me, but its put right soon, but its not good in first pay check, might be worth calling mortgage company and seeing if they can help.

Um unfortunately it prob is right.

What are your contracted hrs? Generally you would expect to get paid for your contracted hrs in the pay period (eg 8hrs a week x 3 =24hrs) & then any additional hrs you did after a cut off date you dont get paid until following month. Most payroll departments have cut off dates for additional hrs near the start of month eg the 10th. Any extra hrs you work after this are paid in next months pay.... so you may not see the money for 6weeks after you work it.

I worked in retail for years and found I always worked my ass off in Nov/Dec but didnt see the financial benefit until the pay at end of Jan... by which stage xmas and party season was over

Its a pain for us but I can see how they wouldnt have time to process everyones additional hrs and work out pay properly, print wage slips, notify bank etc all 2 days before payday.

Yeah what Snoops said! They pay your contracted hours monthly but pay anything over that the month after :S
