Bit rushed as Noah is grumbling upstairs,

1) Noah's 5 months and 3 days - can i wean him pretty please? Laughing
He's a good size, (fits in 6-9 sleepsuits, no idea what he weighs though) , used to sleep really well but has been really difficult to settle at night for about 2 weeks, wakes up 2 or 3 times on the night for feeds (and is properly drinking, not comfort sucking) whereas he used to sleep through..he's really active so probably going through loads of calories.. basically I think he's more than ready!

Got some Organix 4month+ baby rice t to start him off with, only prob is it says to make it up with milk - but he hates formula milk, and i can't express very well - would it be alright to make it up with cooled boiled water instead?

Go for it Laughing

I think they say to use milk so it doesn taste any different to what they are used to, I know you can use water with the baby porridge so I cant really see the difference x

you can make it with water but its grrrrrrrrrross Laughing wouldn't go for cows milk but at first you only need 5-10ml of ebm so maybe you could squish that out Laughing

ooh thanks everyone, i'll try water and if he doesn't like that i'll try squishing some milk Laughing tbh, i think he'll be so happy to have real food that he'll eat it regardless of what it tastes like! Looking forward to getting him started Smile

Bad mummy here didnt even bother with baby rice and went straight on to pureed fruit/veg Embarassed

When I did it with Libby I also struggled to express any - only managed a teeny bit and she didnt even like it anyway! (hence starting Dexter straight on foods). She preferred porridge in the early days and its much easier! xx

Have you got any formula at home? You may find he doesn't mind it squished in with the food. If not I'd try with water. TBH we never did baby rice although we did do porridge (which was fun with blw). I would have thought at his age you could give him some pureed fruit and veg if you wanted

Try water, they can't have cows milk till 12 months and as for weaning go for it, I started Lucas at 4mths, but I'm a naughty mom who sticks to what she knows.

Join cow and age online and you will get a weaning pack which is great explains it all and coupons xx

You can have cows milk in food and on cereal, etc. It was one of those things I checked when I started weaning Jamie. Mind you he was 6 months and I'm not sure they're allowed before that
