cc and sleep - some questions _
PostSubject: cc and sleep - some questions   cc and sleep - some questions EmptySun Jan 08, 2012 8:12 pm

ok don't know if you remember a while ago hubby was keen to try cc. I'm still not fond of the idea but but am happy Jamie knows we're not going to abandon him so agreed. However, crying made Jamie's breathing so bad we didn't do it. We've now just about got his breathing under control so thought we'd give it a try. Actually for his nap, bedtime and after his 10pm bottle he went down without much fuss. He whined and cried on and off between 1-3 although I only went in once (which was the only time it was full blown crying). Adam complained which annoyed me as his the one that wanted to do it. He complained about the fact I went in (although I laid Jamie down, said shush and left) and then complained that I left him crying so I can't win.

Anyway, my question is about bedtime. Would you settle them down at all or would you just put them in the cot, pull the covers up and then leave them? It would already be dark because we turn the light off when he has his last bottle and then we wind him so he has cuddles anyway

When Imogen was Jamie's age, we used to give her the bottle then take her to her room, read her a story, give her cuddles then lay her down with her dummy, give kiss and say goodnight then leave. She would normally go to sleep straight away. Is that what you're asking? I think it's nice to have a bit of a goodnight routine so they know when you start what is going to happen.. them going to sleep.

It's a shame Adam doesn't seem to be supporting you. CC in any form needs both parents to support each other and be fully on board. It can get tough... it's really hard to listen to your baby cry and not go in or go in but not comfort them to sleep. I think you need to explain to him that if he wants this to work you both need to be on the same page.

Yeah that is what I meant. Thanks. At the moment I have to sit with him until he goes off.

Think Adam was throwing a strop because it was the middle of the night and he was tired but annoyed me because he was the one that wanted to do it anyway

that middle of the night attempt at cc is awful. I remember when we did it with Imogen Matt and I were both struggling not to go get her. One min he'd want to and i'd say no then next I'd want to and he'd be telling me to leave her. You have to stick together and stick to your plan (How long will you let him cry without checking etc) x

Thanks Shell. I actually found it easier in the middle of night because he was just whining most of the time. We won't be able to do it tonight anyway because his got one of his top teeth has just popped through and his also really grotty. Its about 10 days since his mmr and they did say he might not feel great about then
