| If it helps your fat baby worries I've dug out Jamie's red book.
He was: birth - 8lb7 6 days - 8lb 9 days 8.7 3 weeks - 10.14 7 weeks - 14.11 9 weeks - 16.11 12 weeks - 18.11 15 weeks - 20.14 19 weeks - 22.14 23 weeks - 24.06 25 weeks - 25.8 35 weeks - 26.12 52 weeks 27.9
He went off the top of the chart by 15 weeks and was only on the 25th centile for length (although his just under the 91st now) but as you can see he hasn't put on much for ages and is back on the chart again (although he has got chubbier since he was weighed). Admittedly he is a chubby baby but you wouldn't look at him and think he was really fat |

| Aww thanx for that. I know im being a div! Im happy he thriving and doing so well. Just a pity he flying through all the clothes we got as gifts. Couldn't find a clean 0-3month vest today and put a 3-6mth on him and to my shock its not really that big on him!
Joshua so far...
8lb 5.5oz at birth ??? at 5 days but MW said he had lost 5% 8lb 10oz 10 days 9lb 3oz at 12 days(0.5lb in 2 days!!!) 12lb 5oz 5weeks
Caitlin, total opposite!
8lb 1oz at birth 7lb 3oz at 4 days 8lb 2oz at 2 weeks 9lb 14oz at 5 weeks 13lb 2oz at 12 weeks 14lb 8oz at 17 weeks 18lb 6 oz at 8months 20lb 11oz at 11months 24lb 7oz at 15month 32lb at 2yrs 4months
I know it really does slow down, I just have visions of it not lol. It actually makes me feel so much better that you BF Jamie. I (wrongly) used to think that BF babies were always around 50th centile and btl fed babies were overweight, particularly around 5-6months I thought they puffed up. Just shows that from birth they pretty much show you how they gonna be, and as long as they healthy it doesnt matter what size they are/what the charts say! |

| Hmm Iv actually reread the weights and Caitlin prob wasnt as tiny as I remembered I think she was always about the 50th centile, and went through clothes at exactly the right ages, so at 5 weeks its a shock that 0-3 look like they wont last much longer and a few 3-6 month things prob dont look ridiculous on him! What was Jamie like at going through clothes? Was he always a cpl months ahead I guess? |

| He was in newborn for three weeks, then 0-3 for three weeks. I think he stayed in the next couple of sizes for a bit longer but grew out of them far faster than you'd expect. However, his been in 18-24 on the top and 9-12 on the bottom (although they're just starting to get too short) for ages. I can't remember when he went into them but all his winter clothes were in that size. He actually came down a size because he was in 18-24 month sleepsuits, then came back down and we've just put him back up because the arms are far too short on the other ones and they're beginning to get too tight. I guess a lot depends on shape as well because Jamie is quite broad and has a long body so all in one things we have to get much bigger sizes whereas he has diddy little legs (his just like oh)
There isn't much difference between the clothes sizes. I seem to remember that its only a couple of lbs so it doesn't take much for them to grow out of them.
You seem to have a sensible hv though. I'm glad I did bf Jamie because they always lectured me about giving him too much formula but when they realised he was bf they were happy with him.
I have to say I did worry that he'd never stop growing at one point and it was expensive whereas now I just buy new clothes because I'm bored of the ones his in so can't win
I don't think you're a div. I know what it feels like. I remember the looks we got sometimes when we said his age. We had photos done on Saturday and the photographer thought he was 16/17 months. He said it was because he was walking so well and saying so much but I suspect it was because of the size. I also remember a couple of the hv reducing me to tears and making me feel like I was doing something wrong even though I know babies in our family are big and then slim down. |

| I cant believe HVs made you cry . Mine is so nice, its me panicking and her telling me how fantastic he is and how proud I must be to have such a gorgeous well proportioned boy. (Ha, think she had to overcompensate slightly after she told me he was the biggest 5 week old she had probably ever worked with and more on par with 12 week olds she see's at clinic - cue me looking horrified ) She keeps stressing I cant overfeed him and he's taking exactly what he needs to grow to the size he is meant to be. The fact he doesnt bring any milk back up is a big indicator babys aren't being overfed. I worry too about bigger toddlers and what others think -eg they expect more of them re talking/good behaviour as they appear to be 2 or 3 but are actually only 18months. Im expecting dirty looks in shops etc in years to come even though it normal behaviour for their age. Ha listen to me getting waaaayyyy ahead of myself as usual! |

| Snoops I was exactly the same when I had Libby, I thought formula fed babies were all huge monsters and BF babies were small and petite - I realise how wrong I was when Dexter came along Libby has always been incredibly small, she currently weighs around the 22lb mark and has barely gained weight in the last 18 months, I get people watching her and then asking me how old she is because she speaks well for her size!! Dexter on the other hand is probably around 20-21lb already, even though he's only on the 25th centile for height and weight, he's outgrowing his 9-12 sleepsuits that were only bought at christmas. I do sometimes think I'll get people commenting at how slow he is because he's big too, I dont care though - he's such a smiley happy little thing so sod what anyone else thinks! I also think *when* he decides to start crawling ( ) he'll slim down a bit. Sounds like Joshua is doing really well hun, so well done you!!! xxx P.S. Sorry for being nosey and gatecrashing the post |

| Yeah I was lucky. Jamie's done everything other than proper walking early (he cruised quite early) and even that he started at about 11 months. His up to about 15 words as well so probably seems like his older than he is from that point of view as well. He also throws the most impressive tantrums already as well. I do remember getting stroppy at some people who thought he should be walking or talking when he was much younger (it was before I went back to work) but doesn't really seem to happen now. I know people used to tell my MIL that Adam was stupid though because although he was walking by 9 months he didn't talk for ages and he was always tall (his 6ft4 now) At least you know we have a little club of chubsters |
