You ever been?

I thought, and so did Dan, that quite a few straight people went for a good night out...so when his sister and her GF asked him to go go out there last night he thought why not lol

Anyway - apparently not! He stood out of the crowd as being a straight guy so much that the door man said to him as he went in the club 'you do know what kind of club this is?'

He didn't once get a come on from a guy (and Dan is a good looking guy and I honestly was peeing my pants thinking of him going in a gay club cos of them men that would try and pull him!) ....apparently they all knew he was straight .. I mean WTF what am I missing, do gay men/woman (apart from the obvious ones) REALLY appear so different that in a club they can tell who is the straight man lol

Oh and just to add...I don't even think his sister or her GF particularly 'look' gay - I am fairly sure if anyone saw them apart they'd not instantly think they are gay!

Maybe my gay radar is shite!

I always thought that Canal Street was full of both gay and straight people too.

I have never been though.

Maybe gay people just have the 'gaydar' and can tell a gay person from a mile off, which is why they left him alone. Bless him, he probably also didnt want to get eye contact with anybody too, just incase they did try to pull him x

I've been there loads of times, the last time was about 3 weeks ago. I'd say 70% are gay but the rest not. I suppose it depends on the bars are some are hardcore but you'd have to know where to go to avoid this.

Canal street is great, we've even taken Ellie to Velvet a few times ( obviously at tea time).

My oh has been hit on a few times (he does look a bit gay) I've never been chatted up lol.

August bank holiday is great as its gay pride and everyone just has a great time and celebrates who they are Smile

I used to go almost every weekend in my late teens/early 20's in a big group of other stright friends (and one lesbian lol). There were always loads of straight people when I went, obviously ages ago though. I got chatted up by straight guys and my boyf got chatted up by a few gay guys lol. He was pretty and a bit gym obsessed so I could see why they thought he was gay lol.

My gaydar must be better than yours as I knew Dan's sister was gay when I 1st met her lol x

Amanda, it's lovely and quite reasonable, deffo worth a visit if you can get there without the kids Smile. We took Ellie when she was about 6 months and she was a swine lol, let's just say it's not really that child friendly. Smile

Never been but would love to go. I always thought it was the type of place you could go on a girls night out and know that you would have a great time drinks/laugh/dance without having the usual idiots trying it on xx
