| Oh Nuts. Have spent time thinking about little miss's first birthday; we'll be going swimming, couple of family coming for birthday tea in eve (dominos are helping me with it shhhh) lots and lots of decorations and (cross fingers for me) doing a home-done-and-iced cake. Oh and another little something as a surprise but but BUT - aside from a couple of keepsakes - have completely neglected any bloomin presents!!! I blame 1) having lots of beans toys to play with 2) herself not really being that fussed with toys and 3) Christmas having just been -oh- and 4) she can't tell me what she'd like!!!! Any ideas? We're away for the weekend but could buy online maybe - but a bit pushed with needing them a week today!! |

| We got Lucas a fisher price piano for Xmas it's for 9-36months, he's a bit young, but still manages to press buttons and my 4 & 7yr I'd nieces love it, it's pretty cute plays music but also numbers and colours. Plus you can follow notes to play songs.
Clothes to dress up in perhaps, or a toy with different fastenings are good.
We thinking, we going to have same probs with birthdays and Xmas, with having 2 so lose in age |

| eli got this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Little-Tikes-Rocking-Horse-Magenta/dp/B0015WM76M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327165875&sr=8-1 (in blue) http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0017IRFES/ref=asc_df_B0017IRFES6217635?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=googlecouk06-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B0017IRFES and http://www.amazon.co.uk/BRIO-31350-Toddler-Wobbler-Yellow/dp/B00004T19V/ref=sr_1_2?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1327166093&sr=1-2 and loads of stuff but i can't remember what??? oh, some wooden jigsaw puzzles (peg puzzles), millions of books, a megabloks truck with megabloks.his favourite toy of the year was a dustpan and brush - we have several now and this was his absolute favourite thing along with various toy phones. he got far too much and also got stuff we had bought him for christmas when he was 8 months. you could get a couple of things from amazon and get express delivery, but pricey. does anabel have a favourite soft toy? other than my boob elijah didn't until recently but we have really encouraged it to help with sleeping so maybe something like that that's just 'hers' (eli has froggy http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jellycat-Cordy-Roy-Frog-26cm/dp/B003WU8B0G/ref=sr_1_1?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1327166260&sr=1-1 ) but i really agree, it doesn't matter too much just take lots of photos and write her a letter or something for when she is older |

| Thanks for ideas Ladies - tell me about it Jade! Am rather unprepared with gifts - perhaps in denial how can this tiny person be one?! And yet the past two months of her walking should have given it away, really, am now last minute buying on a budget - not the best! Not so sure about dress-ups Clare, it's hard enough wrestling her into everyday clothes - for a bit older birthdays perhaps. She's got a keyboard in the shape of beans one from ELC - and the (now retired) vtech walker - we took off that huge detachable part that has keys on too... looked at the large mat-type ones (you know like on the film 'Big'?!) but ANYthing I buy will no doubt be commandeered by the minxy little man too... would that put you off or just make my peace with everything being a 'joint' gift at this age? Got unisex coloured smart trike so no need for her own; got first doll for Christmas... Got a rocker (m&p randolf) sold jumperoo a while ago though so a bit more space for toys anyway! I am seeing a cart thing like that Brio one, Mari, as a recipe for bumps - we've had plenty! So think if we combine a push-along-thing with the 'doll' element and look for a pushchair for it - Any recommendations?! I think when they can ask for things it will a relief - yet an annoyance all at once |

| id recommend this one, if you are a fan of broken wrists/faces in general http://www.amazon.co.uk/Graco-Deluxe-Dolls-Play-set/dp/B0044CTE20/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1327170591&sr=8-3 i got it for elijah from a baby sale for £2 he LOVES it, we trip over it 4 times a day and elijah falls over/out of/under if at least once...its great though maybe look for one which folds up (this one does, very handy for 'losing' it for a while). very lightweight though so if shes still stumbly not great. how cute is this?????!! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Micro-Pram-Doll-Carrier-Stripe/dp/B003YGWPW8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1327170694&sr=8-4 seriously...some of these dolls prams are better than my pram! |

| Anna got very little for her first birthday.... We got her a nice plate and bowl which my parents then decided was from them and paid for as neither we nor they had any other ideas. In-laws sent pull-along wooden dinosaur, which (it turned out to be really unstable) and owl bookends out of fabric (like stiff bean bags) which distinctly say they are not toys.... so have gone in the loft for several years. I think she got a couple of books and some clothes too. Her own Littlelife toddler backpack (not that she's even cruising yet). And a wooden jigsaw of her name - we've had Seb's in the loft for a couple of years since his first birthday, although I'm hoping he'll be ready for it sometime this year.
Her main Xmas present as an ELC Xylopiano (£3 2nd hand) and they got a kitchen as a joint present - but Seb tells her it is hot so she mustn't touch it.
I wouldn't worry too much, if like us you have Everything already. OH has suggested that instead of getting the kids birthday presents we should get them a summer holiday present instead to spread things out a bit, and so that we can buy garden toys at the right time of year.
I'm sure she will enjoy her birthday, whatever you do or don't get. |

| I got Lily loads of Happyland stuff from ELC. They are always on offer and because they are also suitable for older kids Aimee absolutely loves playing with them too, so I killed two birds with one stone x |
