| Just seen this http://www.askamum.co.uk/News/Search-Results/Current-news/Put-the-baby-down-and-walk-away-advice-to-cut-number-of-shaken-babies/
Isn't that just ridiculous? Surely ppl.don't need telling to just walk away instead of shaking their baby?.and maybe this video should be shown in sex ed classes rather than once you've had the baby?

| I think it's a good thing especially it does help to reduce the number of babies that get shaken. I've come close to it when Cerys was a baby. I had read somewhere in a book similar advice to this. When you are consumed with rage and frustration at a crying baby as long as someone can stop for a second and just think "walk away" then that's half the battle. If I hadn't have walked away god knows what I would have done to her. Some women just dont have the coping skills and think educating them like this is a good thing xx |

| I would say that unfortunately Yes people do need telling - that's obvious seeing as there are so many deaths and injuries from babies being shaken - very sad isn't it.
I never really understood how anyone could shake a baby though, it didn't matter to me what Izzy did - shaking wouldn't solve it so why do people do it?! |

| i can remember when D was wee , in the evening she would scream till 1 in morning every night , OH and i would end up swearing at each other never did i get the urge to shake her though and because its something i have never experienced i cannot get my head around why anyone especially that childs parent could do it, i have the same views on ppl that beat/abuse children , i just do not understand how ppl ca do it but thats a whole other post ,,,,,,, i think its something that needs to be shown to woman and men maybe offered in schools , pregnancy and again once baby is born ! in my opinion you cannot offer too much info on ways to prevent such things |

| I can understand how people can get to a point where they snap. When Jamie didn't sleep for months and I was lucky if I got a couple of hours in 30 min blocks night after night I easily could have got to that point if I was a different person. I personally never did but I do remember yelling at him at least once. After 4 or 5 months of that you're passed the point of logic and at least I had a happy baby. If you've got one that sleeps as little as Jamie, fed as constantly and screams all the time I should imagine it really pushes you right to the edge |

| I always remember at my anti-natal classes, the MW saying that if ever a baby was crying and the parent felt they were going to snap to make sure the baby is safe and then just leave the room for 10 mins. I think the video and advice is a good idea as although it does seem obvious, the message does need to be reiterated xx |

| If it stops just one baby being shaken then it's got to be a good thing. I often have to go out of the room and leave Amelia crying, when shes having a bad night 5/6 hours of screaming isn't uncommon. Theres no reason for it nd believe me we have tried everything. My mother hates the fact that I leave her to cry and tells me not to, so for someone to say yes it's ok, makes me feel liek less of a crap mother iyswim? x |

| When you've seen the repercussions of shaken baby, any advice that works should be taken.

| ahhh yeh I suppose having a professional tell you that it's ok to walk away and leave your baby crying if it gets too much is a good thing.. I just read it as if to say "don't shake your baby just walk away" which seemed ridiculous.
I know what it's like to get to that point as well when Tyler or Finlay have had a bad day I always tell them I want to leave them outside lol I regularly tell Finlay to shut up sometimes too and I do put him down and walk away. I can't ever imagine doing anything to hurt him.. telling him to shut up makes me feel bad as soon as the words have left my mouth! |

| Lol that's how I used to feel if I yelled at Jamie.
I have a feeling there's something in the red book that has a list of things including shaking, throwing and something else can result in death |
