well jamie's ezcema is back with a vengance again and i just dont know what to do! i feel like im constantly ringing the docs and all they do is put him on another corse of anti biotics which clearly isnt working!! his leg is really infected and he just constantly goes "ohhh ooo ohhh" pointing to his leg!! just when i think its starting to clear up he will scratch it in the night and it goes back to square 1!! ive asked for bandages or some sort of wrap to stop him getting his nails to it but they just dont listen! im at the point of crying as it makes him harder work at manage aswel cos hes in pain!! dont know if we supposed to post pics but heres whats its like today...just weepeing from knee to ankle!!!

Oh the poor sweetheart! Sorry if i am asking the basic questions, but have you had him checked for food allergies? My oldest daughter has flare ups with her skin, they had been so much better, but we have just spent a month in Australia using a different shower gel, soap powder, diet and of course the heat and her skin looks awful and she can't stop scratching it.

I am not taking her to to the doctors yet, but trying the following (not sure if it would help you):

1. Using a shower gel without SLS (as SLS strips the skin and aggrevates skin conditions)
2. Using dairy free alternatives in her diet
3. Using non bio washing powders
4. Trying to get her to wear long tops to stop her scratching in her sleep as the majority of hers is on her arms.

Hope something may help. Have you spoken to your HV to see if you can get a referral? x x x

bumpwatcher- ye we have tried all of them things! he was on a dairy free diet from 1yr 1m and till just before his 2nd bday and that didnt help...we have used non-bio since he was born, i put long pj bottoms on him and socks to prevent scratchin and they will just be on the floor by mornin..and we never use any soap to bath him just water with emolient from the docs! i have had every mositure cream there is and also every steriod cream hes alowed at his age but it just thins his skin so u have to be very careful! we have literally tried everything and i dont know whats left to do other than bandages!!
and suzie ive booked him in at docs for 11am today and im gonna really push for bandages and just hope they give me some for him!! il let u know how it goes! x x

I thought you probably would have done. The emollients sometimes have this SLS in them too. I would recommend doing some research into SLS as it does play a huge part in skin conditions.

Aww poor little boy, that looks soooo bad (not that you needed telling that) I think i'd demand to see another dr or sent to specialist and i really think it needs bandages, if dr don't get them i'd go to chemist and get something

Oh good poor jamie, have you gone to see a herbalist doctor, the chinese always have harbal remedies that help with skin conditions. My nan sufferes from psoriasis and takes a herbal supplement and it really helps her. Its just an alternative hun.

I really hope it clears up soon

Aww Hun, Lucas as eczema and this week after advice from docs I put steroid cream over his stomach, Chest and back, his skin looks better than before but it's took 5 days of twice a day cream :-(

What did docs say? I'd bandage his legs at night put be careful it doesnt make it worse because no air getting o them
we put socks on Lucas hands to stop him scratching in the night

well the appointment lasted 3 hours al together today!! 1st i had to go to a docs which is a 10min drive away (bearing in mind i dont actualy drive) where i saw an emergancy doc! he also saw us on monday and said it looked worse now! and i said that he needs a dressing or something cos it just doesnt have chance to heal with him getting to it! he got another doc to come have a look and they agreed about the bandage but said docs are rubbish with bandages and dressing so i would have to see a nurse! well there wasnt a nurse working there today so i would have to go to another docs (another 10mins away) and wait to be seen by 1 there! so i had to ask my friend whos really skint and can barely afford petrol to take me there and wait with me! finally i got saw 45mins later and the nurse was lovely but it was awful!!
1st they had 2 peel jamies sock off which was stuck to his leg which made him have a little moan and cry..then they cleaned it which made him cry a bit more..then they put this strong steriod cream on which must have really stung with it all being open sores which made him SCREAM!!! i felt so hopeless not being able to do anythin but stroke his face whilst he was laid on a bed! it took 15mins to do altogether and was just horrible!! so now i have to change it again myself tomoz and sunday and then take him back monday to get more dressing! they told me to carry on with the cream and anti bitoics and also give him calpol in the day to stop the pain hes clearly in!!
he had just been discharged from the dermatoligist a few weeks ago as it was nearly all gone and they were happy with the progress but now i dont know! will just have to wait and see! and ive tried all herbal things before aswel but it doesnt work!

i just hope this finally helps as i really dont know what we will do next if not!! thanks for all your concern! x x x

Oh Lucy what a brave little soldier he is, I really hope the bandages help to clear things up. Must be horrible for both of you seeing him in this pain. It almost looks like burns!
