I feel awful..Milo burnt his hand on my straightening irons I am so furious with myself, because i always make sure i only use them when he's asleep, and i'd put them up out of the way and switched off, My oh took MIlo to get changed while i tidied up the living room, Milo came back in by himself and i was just asking him to help me tidy up when i heard him cry out, and when I looked, he'd climbed up on the back of the sofa and stretched up, he was holding out his hand and crying and I swear my heart stopped I got his hand under the cold tap asap, and kept it under for a few minutes, then tried to get him to hold something cold but he kept throwing it away. He stopped crying as soon as i picked him up, and it doesn't seem to hurt him at all when i touch his hand, there's a small red mark on the palm under his forefinger, but it doesn't look swollen or blistered, and a little red spot in the centre of his middle finger which looks like it might blister.. I think i'm going to take him to the doctor's tomorrow just in case, but i feel so terrible

oh no I bet you feel really terrible - there's only so much you can do to protect little 'helpful' hands though! I was panicking about making the house Elijah-proof the other day, but in reality you can only do so much before it's nearly impossible. you did the right thing with the water, and it doesn't sound too bad, I bet he will have forgotten about it by tomorrow!

Mari, I feel so bad.. He doesn't seem to be in any pain but i just keep thinking what if it had been worse.. I guess it's a sign i should be frizzy for the rest of my life though! Good luck baby proofing for Elijah! Every time I think I'm babyproofed up to the hilt, Milo finds a new trick. He'S outwitting me already, and he's only 1! Aww, candyfloss, I know how you feel! I cried a heck of a lot more than Milo did. I think our kids are always stronger than us, aren't they!

Aww, poor little guy. The exact same happened to us last week, I'd unpluged the GHD's and next put them out the way, next thing I know he was picking them up - ouches!! Like I say to my OH - You can't protect them from every little thing, sometimes accidents will happen. xx

Glad he is ok hun, and I can honestly share your guilt. For those of you that haven't got one I really recomend those heat pouches for your hair straightners. I have one for my GHDs that is a pouch and opens out into a mat. You can put your straightners in hot and they can easily then be stored away. I got mine from Boots for about £3.99....well worth xx
