| so, we thought we could put it off for another 2years or so, but the occupational therapist has put in a referral to the wheelchair services for us already i really don't know if i'm ready for the stares and nosy looks from people seeing her in a wheelchair on top of that lewis isn't walking yet so we'd have to have a wheelchair and a stroller, making it imposs for one of us to just 'nip out' with the kids argh!!! i really thought this wouldn't happen for ages yet |

| awww no, bless you. I really dont think that you would get many people staring, and if they do, then they are pathetic and not worth worrying about. Hopefully they will let you go a little bit longer before you actually get it, so Lewis may well be walking by then. x |

| I guess it will take a while before you get it, and even if you do get it before Lewis starts walking you don't have to use it if it Lilly-Ann is happy in the buggy! On the plus side it means you are on the lists and known ready for when you do need the wheelchair!

| she doesn't HAVE to use it, but we need a new double anyways...so sam is saying just move her into a wheelchair as soon as it comes is it the mclaren major buggy?? they really do price special needs stuff up high as they know it's a necessity when we got the car i looked into special carseats...they started at £900!!! |

| that's the one lisa...we went to a baby group for special needs yesterday and one of the ladies kindly bought one in to let us try the kids in...and she slumped like she does in a normal pram(you'll see tomorrow that her sitting is not good in pushchairs/highchairs ) it's amazing how cheap looking it is...it's a basic £30 stroller, made a lil higher and charged triple the price for emma, lewis is kicking her in the back constantly...so we do need to either pay for a new double or use a wheelchair, not sure which is the lesser of the two evils |

| I did think that other than it looking like it would accommodate a child for a longer time, its not much different!! Cant belive how 'exploited' the special needs market is.....feels very wrong! Surely life should be made easier/simpler, rather than harder/more expensive!! Cant wait to meet her & Lewis |

| if it's a 'normal' double she can't use them generally, the strap between the legs is always too thin or loose so she slumps...the p&t is the only one we've ever found that works for her maybe i should just give in to the wheelchair idea...it'll be better for her i guess but will mean she cant nap :? dammit, she's not even 2yet, she shouldn't be going into one |

| Kenty am i right in thinking that the wheel chair will help her sit better? they have supports i'm sure in them.
if so it might be an idea to look into or actually speak to wheel chair makers on something that could be put in a double buggy to help keep her up right |

| you're right...and that actually doesn't sound like a bad idea, thanks kel! they're bringing in a wheelchair services person to this new playgroup next week so it might be worth asking if we can get something like that....the buggy is quite a slanted back one though so dunno if they'll be able to |

| I hope it works out for the best in the end.
and I bet it wont be long til that little monkey of yours is walking.
at least lilyann is on the list for now instead of her going on it when you really need it and having to wait.

| Aww Faye, thinking of you hun. Don't know what to suggest hun just didn't want to read and run. Think Kelly's idea is a good one. If people stare its because they are ignorant hun, there is no cure for ignorance hun but hopefully someday there will be a cure for Retts. |
