| In Canada, it was abolished in the 70's and ever since, voilent crime has risen. Recently on the news there has been a serial killer who was in a high command position in our military, who was found guilty of torturing..raping and killing at least two women. He was given two consecutive life sentences. I am outraged! I think we should bring it back for capital murder at least. |

| I'm not 100% sure, simply because of the errors that have been made in the past - people found guilty and then 30 years later new science proves they didn't do it
Of course we could say ok then just do it for those that confess - but all that would do would reduce the confessions to zero
Its really a very hard thing to say what is 100% hard evidence - to me the only thing is a video that's been verified as not tampered with |

| We have a notorious child killer locked up here who has killed several children in the 80's - Clifford Robert Olson, and is in prison with internet/tv privvies..book/movie deals..making money on his disgusting offenses. They have him sectioned off from the rest of the prison population which costs the tax payers more money for his security and well being. This man should die! |

| its the prison system that needs reforming, bring back the "Boot Camp" style punishment. Death is too good for these killers, its an easy way out and they never has the chance to be punished and made to feel pain like they inflicted on their victims. I truly believe that paedophiles should be castrated and the human rights people can feck off, because they took all the "human rights" away from their poor victims. |

| I find that we spend more time..money..resources on protecting the criminal element, when there is little offered to their victims. The liberal bleeding hearts of society have taken more interest on protecting animal rights, than they do human rights. If someone is proven 100% guilty of murder in the 1st degree, especially child killers... this should defo be an option again. We need to rid society of these filthy human waste of skin, instead of paying for them. There was also a child killer in Seattle Washington that admitted to no reform for ppl like him..and sought out for himself..the death penalty..he actually had to fight in court for his right to be killed! He did win, and was put to death a few years back.

| I agree with lisa. Some people years later do get found not guilty after new evidence and things come up adn the fact noone would confess if they knew they were the ones given the death penalty x
But then i agree with a life for a life!x If u take someones life u give up your own if that make sense. Prison is so easy for them with tvs/games/jobs/money they prob have a better life in there then they did when they were out! |

| I agree with Jen in cases where there is concrete dna evidence, especiall forchild murderers I also think all paedophiles should be castrated and life should mean life, not in cushy jails, hard labour untill the day they die |

i totally agree!!! peadophiles should be castrated!!! my cousins little boy who was 4 at the time was abused by her boyfriend, sexually physically and mentally(and i mean real nasty sick things) he was caught and sentenced to 13 years, he will have xboxe's and things inside a tv library and was offerd counciling befor my cousin and her poor little boy did 2 years on and he is still cries at bed time and gets upset and 'he' will be getting 3 meals a day and living for free off tax payers money sorry kind turned into my own mini rant there but i just find it so sickening i agree if can be proven 100% and no mistake that these people did the crime then they should be put to death x |

| The punishment should fit the crime.
If an animal couldn't control itself it would be castrated so we should do the same to humans.
People who neglect or harm their children should be sterilised to stop them having any more
Any premeditated killing should be an automatic death penalty with hard labour until it is carried out. With DNA testing and all the other scientific wizardry there is far less risk of convicting the wrong person than there was years ago.
As for general punishment prison should be unpleasant...crap food, drafty uncomfortable cells, hours of boredom and routine removal of dignity...if it was more unpleasant perhaps less people would make a return visit. |

| me too! Prison isn't really seen as much of a deterrant (if any) I mean its like a hotel... food prepared for you somewhere nice to stay, you can even get qualifications FFS. I dont know if its the same in England but in Jersey prisoners can choose to have a "smoking" cell! ? I mean I couldn't smoke in a pub but a prisoner can choose to smoke in a cell? hmmm (I dont smoke btw just making an example) abosolutely disgusting. |
