| Of course we all know the origins of Christmas, if we are to believe that it is a celebration of the birth of jesus christ - who knows though...someone might have made up that story to go along with some other event?!
I was brought up with Christmas, but not on a religious level at all, other than going to church with school and learning in primary school that was it.
To me Christmas is a time of year for spending time with family, making effort for those you don't see often, and giving presents - I don't buy religious cards or put an angel on the tree - we do have a tree as its something that I was brought up with, but to me it has no religious value, and I wouldn't be bothered not to have one, its just one of those things you do.
So what do you think about Christmas? Some people think those that spend time with family and exchange gifts but don't believe in Christianity are hypocritical - I think that's a load of tosh like saying anyone who eats a chocolate egg at easter is too, things change and are done for different reasons. |

| Both are dead on Lisa. Christmas is about a time of giving and sharing, regardless of religious meaning behind it. We do go to church or mass Christmas eve as it's family tradition. But Christmas means the same to me..about family..friends..cheer..libations and an enormous amount of eating. I do think it should be observed on the calender as "Christmas"..and not turned into some winter festival dribble. Same with all religious holidays..how you chose to celebrate it is completely up to you! Just don't ever want to see it dismantled and not celebrated due to some minorities get their noses out of joint. xxx |

| Yep, I totally agree too. Christmas for us is all about spending time with family. We have a star on our tree and we keep it all about fun stuff, not religion x |

| Hi
I spend Christmas pretty much as you girls do but we do have an angel on our tree and we do have a a few religious decorations. We usually go to a carol service in a local church the week before Christmas. As for Christmas cards I buy what I like, usually cutie ones, rarely religious ones. My kids are aware of why we celebrate Christmas but to be honest are more interested in the latest xbox games. I just love everything about Christmas. |

| TBH even the star is religious iconography though For me its primarily a family time but i do remember why the day is observed at all and go to midnight mass xmas eve as long as im not on earlies on xmas day and c will learn the origin of xmas same as easter but im not going to overwhelm her. She will learn to make her own choices on that as shes older i guess |

| Christmas Day is about us staying at home and playing with new toys and eating quick food so we can get on with playing
Celebrating the 25th December has been around a lot longer than Christianity. For thousands of years it has been celebrated as the day when the sun begins to rise after 3 days at its lowest point. Put 'Zeitgeist' into Google or You Tube and there is loads about it. |

| I have never been religious. My old foster carers forced me into being baptised/christened but I have never been a church goer as I don't believe in religion. Christmas to me is about spending time with family and sharing the love. Its not very often that all the family are able to get together and Christmas is the one day of the year we know we will defo get to be together We have a tree, mainly now for Flicks benefit, when I lived in my flat alone I never put any decs up and when OH moved in we didn't do it either. |
