I only work part time Mon and Tues 9-5 and 10-1.30 on weds. Anyway poor Doodles has been sick this afternoon 3 times so I don't think she can go to nursery in the morning. Normally my Mum and Nan would help me out, but my Mum is on holiday and my Nan is quite ill with a bad cold.

Mr Pepper has only just started his job after 4 months of training so he can't really take anytime off and I took a day off when Abbie got scolded and my boss wasn't too happy about it, and she makes me feel guilty if I need time off as I on;y work part time.

Arrrgggghhhh!!!!!! I HATE having to work

Ahh thanks Kenty - the stupid thing is she has a child herself!!! But both her parents live with her and she never took any time off when her son had scarlett fever.....but then again she doesn't need to with 2 live in childminders!!

my boss is an old bat but if ever any of us need time off whatever reason she will go out of her way to help us out!!
we really dont see eye to eye but when evan was really ill after splitting his head i asked to go home half an hour early so i cud take him to docs and she sent me home there and then even tho i insisted i didnt need to go home as evan was with oh she covered my shift and sent me home and let me leave early every day that week cos he was really unwell

I know its so hard when they are ill - but don't feel bad!

Izzy was ill last couple of weeks, she doesnt sleep when she goes to MIL's so its just not fair to send her as all she wants to do is sleep! SO I stayed off college - OMG have they harassed me or what?! Every *$%£ day my tutor was emailing or ringing - 2 letters to point out my % of absence - bearing in mind college only started 3 weeks ago %ages mean shit right now so they can go stick them up their bums cos I have done the work at home!

Have managed to carry on doing my jobs though as they are when Dan has finished!

yeah its pretty crap. i work 32.5 hours a week and on two occasions when c has been ill this year ive been made to take a day of my annual leave or swap my shifts around to care for her even though im limited by childcare to the days i can do cos my parents and neil all work full time too so i work the days i do for a reason. and this is knowing for a fact they have given carers leave to other people when their sprogs have been sick but im not a buttmunch who sucks up so i gotta swap. *breathes in*

Well she seemed fine this morning so I dropped her off at nursery and fingers crossed they haven't rung so she might be over the worst.

The annoying thing is one person from work, her sister has mental health issues and she has a baby (about 9 months old), and she had a serious 'episode' and has ended up in hospital and she was given time off work to look after her nephew no probs!!!

my boss was great she left friday. i can work from home if i want and to be honest i get more done, so if son is ill i do that.

but as a parent of a child under 5 your allowed so much time off for your child. if your child is disabled this till they 16.

im lucky i work flexi hours and can work at home after he gone to bed to clock my hours.

although i'm off work because i'm ill today and i'll get more crap from colleagues not my bosses about that than having time off with son...

although on the occasion he is ill and i have to go in, i have to ask my dad to have a day off or russ too. we dont have anyone else

I work in a college, the biggest pain in the arse for us is absent students, it's so important that you attend or it affects our funding. We need need marks in registers! Ha ha.

Advice to pepper, ring in and say you're sick, that way they can't stop your pay.

lol I know its important but harassing me phoning every day and emailing when I have followed their absence procedure is just silly! there isnt much one can do when a baby is poorly - some of the lecturers knew that and knew I was doing the work - just 1 in particular who I may add I have never met as she was a new tutor assigned to me for OLP something
