OMFG

Well I had my hospital appt with my psychiatrist this morning and have been advised that I should stop taking my anti-depressants while we are ttc and for the 1st 12 weeks of pregnancy at least.

I am scared as I know that I will have to come of my beta blockers as well and am not sure I am strong enough to manage the whole ttc emotional rollercoaster without my emotional medicinial crutch.

are there alternatives that are less evasive during ttc'ing and early pregnancy? xxx

My friend had the same problem, and they found a medication that wasnt as strong to take. Maybe ask your doctor if you can take eglynol. I know its for feeding but its also an anti dep.

Thanks girls I am on Sertraline 50mg. They have told me they will refer me to a CPN (Community Pyschiatric Nurse) and will see my at outpatients more often. I just have to remember why I am doing it and hopefully that bfp is just around the corner so hopefully I won't have the emotional rollercoaster re ttc much longer.

Righty ho then....you dont HAVE to come off these if you dont want to, these and fluoxetine have the most safety data in pregnancy. I took fluoxetine high dose in both pregnancies and have had no problems whatsoever.

Fluoxetine has the best data in pregnancies upto the 3rd trimester, and then you are advised to swap to sertraline if you want to breastfeed.

This si completely your decision, but please remember that a stressed out, anxious, or depressed mother is not what your baby needs (during pg or after)........but if you think you would like to try, then give it a go!!
