PostSubject: Help me girls :'(   Help me girls :'( EmptyFri Oct 15, 2010 7:34 am

I've been trying to get Harry down to sleep for the past hour and half, and hes been up and down in his cot wanting to play, wanting cuddles, wanting kisses. Now I have just left as I know he is so tired and I'm aware of how late it is. As soon as I left the room he started crying, properly sobbing Sad I need to know what to do? Rob finishes work in half an hour and I don't want him to come into a crying baby he will think I'm neglecting him or something lol, plus I don't want Harry to be worn out and upset Sad

Don't know what to do but its killing me listening to him Sad xx

Tbh as much as it sounds cruel, i'd just leave him to cry himself to sleep. This happens with Imogen sometimes, and the more i go in and try to calm her down the more she just messes around and tries to play, so i just leave her. Its horrible but she settles eventually.
good luck hunxx

What sort of cry is it? Is he heartbroken or the sort for attention.

If it were me, I would just simple ignore the attention cry. Its not neglecting him, but the way I see it, going in all the time its going to take twice as long to settle every time you leave again. xx

It sounds like a little boy thinks he is grown up now he can walk and doesnt need to sleep.

It could just be that he learned something new today and wants to practice.

I would just leave him to settle himself and just pop in every ten mins or so to shhhh him xx

hun, go in tuck him into his cot/bed, tell him that you love him, good night, or what ever you say, give him a teddy, kiss the teddy, tell teddy to look after him while he sleeps and walk out, saying goodnight again.

give him 15 mins if he continues, do the same again, same words same actions, in same order.

continue until he falls off,

its the routine of knowing that this is now bedtime and your not taking any nonsense, dont over cuddle that gives attention, just keep settling him down, the teddy gives extra security, (rich at 11 still goes to bed with edward tedward)

hope he goes to sleep soon, this approach worked for me and rich was a nightmare at bedtime, but its the consistencya nd the lack of attention to their crying that helps.

sending a huge hug for mom too

Thanks for the replies ladies, he's finally asleep now, I gave him his giant Timmy and he cuddled it and didn't seem interested in me anymore lol. I sat on the little futon thats in his room and within 5 mins he was off to sleep. He was very upset bless him and he was doing that little sniff thing they do every couple of secs when they've been crying a lot Sad

Anyway, at least hes asleep for when daddy gets home, the little bugger lol xx

if he isnt hurt or being sick its horrible but leave him to cry it out!! thats what i had to do with evan to get him to go down it worked and now im having to do it all over again to get him to sleep all night, been a nightmare and breaks my heart but evan has never slept a full night ever, ive been leavin him to scream it out for the past 3 nights and last night he slept whole night in cot! maybe jst a fluke but the crying it out is def working so if u can leave him

if u cant bare to hear him cry then mayb go up n give him a wee cosy til he settles, i used to do this with evan and it was only cos i cudnt cope with no sleep anymore that i had to force myself to leave him cry
