oh i have many many questions Laughing and i haven't even started yet! Just wondering if people use highchairs, i think it might be easier for elijah as he will have a bit of a table and somewhere to sit up (we only have a couch/armchair and no dining table) - we were looking at low highchairs (like the one you were looking for pinky), is it worth it, how long do highchairs last (age-wise?)

Mari I bought that one from Asda, the red kite one which can go on the floor or be raised up like a traditional one. It's been a life saver for me because my back was in torture feeding her on the floor, you can take the tray off as well and recline the seat back. It lasts until 3 years so a good investment I think.

yeah we were looking at that one after someone posted the link (forget who, sorry!), it looked pretty good, i have found another couple which can be low and can be reclined so hoping to go have a play at mothercare or somewhere soon - do you think ava eats better (or more easily?) in the highchair? i wondered if elijah's posture might be better for eating if he was sitting up properly

definately, before she would lurch forward to get the food, whereas she has to sit upright in her chair.

When I started weaning Thomas I used the bumbo with the tray on sat up on the dining table. I got him a highchair at 6 months and it's been a godsend. He still uses it now. It can be reclined to 3 different positions which is good for when you first start and the full recline is good if they fall asleep in their dinner Laughing. It also can be raised/lowered to 4 different heights which is useful. I would highly recomend a good substantial highchair with good 5 point straps. My MIL has a cheapy one from Argos and its rubbish - the straps are next to useless because they aren't anchored at the shoulders and there is no solid part between the legs so Thomas can wriggle down under the tray and escape. The seat is also massive which made it useless when he was younger as he just slipped down in it all the time and we had to shove a big cusion behind him. The one we have at home is a very snug moulded seat with great straps meaning he can't escape. I would post a link hun but it was from babies r us and they dont do it anymore - will go look for something similar.

This looks very similar to Thomas's:

but I like this one:

Aimee has got one, and I have gone through stages of using it and not using it, but since we put a feature wall up in our lounge, it made sense (didnt want greasy fingers on my walls anymore) and it has been brilliant!

We have got this one (different pattern):

Ooh I love that first one but Shocked at the price!

The other two are cool! Love them both but out of the two I would choose the red one simply for the solid bit between the legs. It didnt even occur to me before I bought it but since having Thomas in both types would always get the solid bit ones.

5 point harness just means the harness is anchored at 5 points - between the legs, at both sides of hips and above each shoulder. Thomas has been through phases with feeding and sitting in highchairs and when he has been through a bad phase the harness have been a god send. MILs has a harness but its not anchored above the shoulders so although he is secure and wont fall out he can lean right over the side and throw his weight around and almost tip the thing over if he's in a proper strop (not so much now but 12-18 months).

Here is Thomas in his @ 6 months - note the handy drink holder on the tray Wink

i know the first one is a bit much! but hubby got some money for his bday and it turns into a chair/table http://www.mothercare.com/richContent/B001SRJI84 - it doesn't have the bit between the legs though!

i know what you mean with the harness now Laughing eli has this in his buggy so i get what you mean! and bless little thomas! Very Happy he looks so grown up in that chair (with his can of fosters Laughing Laughing Laughing)

I have a Chicco Polly - I love it!

You can use it with the arms rests down and add the little tray on, or you can lift the arm rests up, drop the height a bit and push it under your own kitchen table - this is what we do when we have family meals as she then feels part of the action

^^^ them feeling part of the eating action is really important for BLW, so if you can get a small table he will probably start to follow what everyone else does quicker...although I'm not too sure you should wear your hat for dinner in case he thinks its a good idea! Laughing

Its also really easy to clean, as it wipes down and can go in the washing machine if the straps etc get too grubby

we have only just got a highchair which gav is going to assemble tonight. my mam bought me the one from the asda baby event so gonna check it out and see what its like. if its no good im gonna buy that one from toys r us i think.

atm tho as i am spoon feeding alfie purees he is in his rocker chair. its has a 3 point position so i can sit him up quite straight while hes eating. ive just started him on finger food the past couple of days and for this ive either put him in his bumbo or his walker has a tray on the front which has toys on which you can take off so its like a feeding tray.
