A guy from sky called at our door to talk to us about some amazing HD deal. (We with Virgin). He came in and explained that for £47 we could have the regular package as well as the kids, knowledge, & music package, the HD channels and free instulation and sky+ box. We would also get 20mb internet & free landline calls. Atm we pay £37 for something similar but no HD or +box with Virgin. The catch was he was over from Newcastle with this fab offer that wasnt available online or by phoning sky and I had to sign up right now. I was seriously considering it (Stuart was gagging for it) and asked him what the cooling off period was. He told me that they didnt like talking about cooling off periods as it meant he wasnt doing his job properly by signing people who were unsure, he then waffled on more to Stuart about HD. I told him it was a legal right and he then told he just would refuse to sign me up rather than discuss the terms of cooling off. He asked me why I wanted to know so much about cooling off periods and I told him that I would have to phone Virgin to check for certain when my contract with them ended. He asked would I be asking them what their latest deals were. I said being honest if they told me them I would listen and consider them. He then told me that was not the type of customer Sky was interested in, someone who tried to undercut companies . Sky is a luxury product and they dont work like that. I fecking wanted to smack him at that point ! Basically telling me I wasnt the type of customer he wanted while sitting in my living room. Cheeky git. He then continued to talk to Stuart (I pay the fecking tv bill!). I tried to stay calm in the end and told him he had blown it in the last 10 min of his pitch. He was basically presurising us into a sale and I wasnt happy with that. I told him he would probably get more sales if he allowed people to sign up and most would probably keep it (I probably would have). Another big sales pitch about how he has the best sales figures spouted out of his gub... I dont know how he got out of here without me slapping him. Even on the way out he was prattling to Stuart about how he could chase him up the street if he changed his mind... Arghhhh!!! Iv probably turned down a brilliant deal but he did my head in with his attitude!

OMG the cheek of him. You were very restrained, I'd have said "Tell me now you jumped up little twerp and I'll decide whether I want to be the type of customer sky would like". Either that or I'd have told him he was leaving NOW! What a little dipshit!

I have sky and that sounds like complete BS to me. That is the standard price for that package online and TV. I think you should def complain if he was geniuenly (sp) from sky they will know who was in the area at that particular time of day

have a read of this, it is Sky's security warnings about door to door salesmen. At the bottom of the first section they are very clear about having a cooling off period http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/securitycentre/article?contentid=3235510&catlist=3132510

Oh thats interesting Sue. He never said I wasnt entitled to a cooling off period to be fair. When I told him it was my legal right he agreed but said he wouldnt sign people who were already thinking about it. Something about how it cost Sky money. I even told him I meant 1-2 days and he said yeah i know but we would still lose £... Dick. I wonder who I could phone? Must check out their deals online. Im getting more angry about this.

I thought it sounded a good offer if its the whole package on TV! Its £51 for the full package before HD which is another £10 on top - was it the whole package or just those 3 you mentioned? - cos just with those 3 is only about £30 a month! He sounds very pushy though, and feckin rude! |

It was the standard package, which to me seems like freeview and then the variety pack, the knowledge pack, the music pack and the kids pack. (No movies, sports,or other add on smaller packs). Would get the HD channels, a sky+ box and installed for free. 20mb internet Free landline calls 24/7 Is that amazingly good?

That sounds about right for no movies and sports I could be wrong. I have all that plus movies and sports and espn and its something around 70 a month so sounds right but thats not the point. If you go to the sky website they have a customer service number maybe try to call them?

20mb internet Free landline calls 24/7 Is that amazingly good? Those packages on the TV would be £22 HD is £10 Broadband 20mb is free (unless it was the unlimited download one which is £7.50) Phone unlimited landline is £5 That all equals £44.50 Of course if line rental was included then it would be another £11 which is £55 a month The set up is free anyway SO it depends as you didn't mention line rental - it could be £2.50 MORE or £8 Cheaper! also this offer online ''Join Sky TV online and get a M&S voucher worth £50 with your first Sky+HD package or £25 with your first Sky+ box.* '' |

It DID include line rental Lisa. He told me installation wasnt free usually and thats why it was so fab, or maybe it was the sky+ box that wasnt usually free... He just kept going on about HD and confusing me. We dont download anyway, only really on here, FB, online shopping etc so the free 20mb is fine. Doesnt sound as amazing as he made out. Yup £8 is a bit cheaper per month but not worth signing up instantly without being given the chance to consider other options. An extra £8 a month is £96 a year but if you got a £50 voucher its only really saving £46 over the whole year. I'l have to ring Virgin and see what they offering atm. Thanx for checking that x

Id ring sky and kick up crap, either hes bogus and needs to be caught or hes genuine and needs his ass kicked and id def drop him in it. If you ring virgin and tell em you had a visit from sky but wanted to see if they had any better deals they may sweeten it a bit for you
