PostSubject: Stinky Feet   Stinky Feet EmptySat Oct 23, 2010 9:08 am

My OHs feet are rank! For weeks I have smelt a fusty smell (its almost like you have misplaced a dirty nappy in a nappy sack Stinky Feet 981624 ) in the living room on and off. I then told him it was his feet and he blamed me back saying it was my trainners.

Well today he came in and as soon as he sat down I smelt the pong. He gave in and sniffed his trainners and finally friggin agreed it was him. He has been spraying febreeze in his trainners tonight (I want them binned!!!)

What is good for getting rid of smells in trainners?
Do foot sprays/insoles work?

His feet dont smell in his work boots just these stinky addias.

baking soda and there is some foot powders you can buy..I think Dr. Schols(sp) makes some. Make sure he wears socks in them..bare feet in sneakers makes them ripe!

the bin works!!!! or the washing machine and cotton socks and smelly insoles - but not forever, if they are synthetic trainers nothing will get rid of the evilness!

He does wear socks Jen. Dont have baking powder, may buy a foot powder in town in the morning then. Do you put it in the trainners or use it like talc? x

Lol mari. The bin was my first option too, Stuart disagree's Rolling Eyes Laughing

LOL..baking soda..not powder..otherwise he will start fizzing in his shoes! You can sprinkle it right in the shoes..if that fails..chuck em out..it will just get worse! Stinky feet can clear a room in seconds!

I thought soda was the pure form and powder is the one with cream of tarter added - so in theory you could use powder? What would the cream of tarter do I wonder?!

OMG jen and lisa you are losing me Laughing . I totally dont know the difference between them. I never have either in the house, I use self raising flour and havent baked since PG anyway.

Think I shall get an actual footpowder. I'll end up doing something ridiculous with flour or washing powder if I dont! Embarassed x

The only time I have ever used cream of tar tar was to make the merange for a pie. Other than that..no clue. Baking soda is used in alot of recipes and is also highly used as a fridge deoderant. Baking powder is used a lot too as it helps things rise quickly..but if you put too much in or mix up a recipe that asks for the soda..I find that you get a CO2 affect..even tastes like its fizzy.

Febreze will only make the smell worse as it coats it. You need to put them through a washing machine, possibly twice then dry em outside. Once the worst of the smell is gone use the powder, as well as sprinkling it inside you can make a bag out of some old tights and put the powder in there then tie it up and leave the bag inside the shoes to absorb the smell, if you use the bag method coffee grounds actually do the same

My shoes dont smell except my work shoes so they obviously arent letting his feet breathe properly, try getting him some cool max socks or 100% cotton socks too and def the foot powder and a good wash before and after lol

But personally id just bin em!

hahah those fabreeze ads annoy me! I do use the stuff but their claim that it 'With our patented odour elimination technology and best ever freshness, Febreze fabric tackles the odours in fabrics to stop them coming back and help your home stay fresh.' is bollocks - you can't get rid of smells like that, they have to be washed and I don't care what they say! Besides you'd have to use a whole bottle on one sofa to cover every mm that might contain a smell!

Laura we have the lavender febreeze counter spray. I dont mind it tbh.

I havent even left the house today to get him anything for the trainners. Weather is miserable.

Might try washing them now. Is there a certain temp or way you should wash them?
