For those who have been proposed to - how did they do it? Have you ever said no? Have you been engaged more than once, was one proposal better than the other? My OH proposed on Valentines day when I was PG. We went to a local restraunt where we always go for birthdays, anniversarys etc. I sat down at the table and noticed a few people starting at me. I got quite paranoid and thought it was cos I was 4mths PG and looking poop. I busied myself looking at menu and wondered why the waiter was hovering and then looked up and saw OH was on his knee and nodding at a balloon in middle of table. It was a red heart that said Will You Marry Me?. I hadnt even fecking noticed it as the restraunt was covered in hearts and balloons. I was stunned and said yes, then everyone clapped and strangers came over to see ring & congratulate us . It was quite sweet that my OH planned it. My only niggle was that it was so public. I did feel quite pressured to say yes and beam, I had told him that I didnt want to get engaged when PG as I didnt want it to seem as that was his motive (he claims to not remember me saying that ). I also wish I had got to pick my ring but was also impressed that I quite liked what he had chose. Oh and for some reason it also bugs me looking back that he had his coat on I think he was pretty nervous bless him! What's your experience's or how would you like it to happen?

My OH has 'proposed' to me 3 times - I sdaid no twice and yes once He is so not romantic so none of them were the down on one knee with a big rock type proposal. He first proposed to me after being together 3 weeks - we were at work in the canteen eating chinese and he just asked me if I would marry him? I kinda 1/2 laughed coz I didn't know if he was serious but apparently he was and scarily I wanted to say yes but the problem was he was still married (divorce not through) so I said no, ask me when you are divorced Second time we were on holiday and I had just found out I was pg with Thomas but again his divorce wasn't final and something in me says its just weird to be engaged to a married man (even if divorce is filed) so I said no again - bless him. He then waited till my birthday last year. We moved house and it was my birthday so we got into bed for our first night in our own home and he proposed and I said yes and turns out Hannah was conceived that night too xx

Christmas day at MIL's. I was a few months PG. He took me upstairs, took the ring out of his pocket and said 'So, are you going to marry me or what?' Not exactly the most romantic in the world But OH was the sort of person whose parents never thought he would settle down xxxx He was a bit of a slapper in his home town xxxx

We were having a barney We were due to go on holiday the week after and he had been in a shitty vile and mean mood for a week and i came home fed up of it and he grunted at me one too many times and i went batshit at him about how horrible he was. We had this big fight and when i said 'why are you being such a prick' he said 'i'll show you' went stomping off, came back with the ring and said 'cos ive been bricking it about giving you this' and thrust it at me. My mouth must have dropped open cos he then went down on one knee and said 'will you marry me' and burst into tears. I was still so confused by it all I answered 'you f***ing twat!'. Took a second before he realised i meant yes

I remember seeing the pics of the beef wellington Niccsy, was so romantic Mine was completely unromantic I was looking at wedding rings and kept saying I liked one, a couple of days later Simon sent me a text while I was at work and it said 'you know that wedding ring you liked? How about getting married next year?' so that was it, my proposal by text message I was over the moon and we got married a few months later xx

I had one when i was 18 in front of ALL his family so i felt like i had to say yes and then kept finding reasons to delay picking a ring unti li eventually said 'sorry but i really dont want to' Unsurprisingly we split up not long after..... I had another one when i had packed him in and then he turned up to my work with roses and a ring I still to this day do not understand why he thought i would say yes when i had just told him that i did not want to see him any more There was another bloke who i only went out with for a few months that began to freak me out by asking me to marry him all the time, TBH i thought he was joking and just used to laugh and then he started showing me pictures of rings that he thought i might like My ex husband proposed when we were on holiday in Turkey - he was panicking about the ring setting off the metal detectors in the airport or something. I wondered why he was being a bit odd. He was nervous and eneded up blurting it out as we were having a pint of lager in a bar!! My current OH keeps saying 'when we get married' but to be honest i cant imagine him being organised enough to get a ring and plan a proposal! Watch this space

Only been engaged once and only been proposed to once. Matt told me we were going to midnight mass with his family on Christmas eve. We were driving there and he went the wrong way, i started having a go at his and he said he needed petrol. Then he got petrol and went the wrong way again, this point i was getting angry cause we were gona be so late. Then he drove us to our 'special place'... The Jack and Jill windmills that look over the downs. We used to go there a lot and just watch the sunset and talk for hours. Anyways we got there and he said he just wanted to spend some time with me not go to church. Then he gets out and says there's something wrong with his car lights. He was trying to get me out the car to look and i was having a fit about the wind and cold but in the end he got me infront of the car right on the hill overlooking the downs and went down on one knee. He told me how special and beautiful i was and said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and said will you marry me? I did a weird girly screech lol and said yes.

My OH woke me up at 3am cause he was so excited about it and couldn't sleep. He got on top of me and gave me a huge cuddle, told me how fantastic i was and how he could never live with out me then asked me to marry him. Was very romantic i suppose if i hadn't been all bleary eyed and sleepy lol. He was fidgeting like a wee excited puppy and it took all he had not to cling to the ceiling and bounce off the walls when i said yes

| I've had three proposals that I've accepted and none have been particularly romantic
First I was 16 and my boyfriend was due in court shortly for which he was certain to go to prison (that's a whole different story, lol) and said that it would help his case if he was engaged, so me being a stupid teenager accepted, we stayed together for 4 years then split up when I realised he was a knobhead
My ex husbad proposed to be loads, but I always said no because he was drunk. When he did get round to asking me sober, we were in a hotel room in Bournemouth and were getting ready to go out, he'd just got out of the shower and pretended to fall and hurt his leg, I went over to see if he was ok and he was on one knee then asked me to marry him. I said yes that time
Then Matt asked me in bed one morning, we were laying there and Chloe was in the middle of us all having a cuddle and he asked me.
I've always wanted the big romantic gesture, but it's never happened, lol |

I was engaged to my ex, but he never proposed apparently he was going to on my 21st but we bought a house before that so he said he didnt need to do the whole proposal thing! ( we never did get married) When Adam proposed he had just moved in to a new flat that day and was coming to mine for his tea, there i was in my pjs, wet hair, cooking tea in the kitchen looking my best he was late, i was cursing, my housemates dad was staying with us too. earlier that day i had met the ex ^^^^ to get my name taken off our joint account (even though we had split 2 years earlier) and had rang Adam to tell him he had no credit and didnt text me back all day so i was beggining to think he had fallen out with me. when he finally arrived he followed me into the kitchen and said in a very serious voice, i have to ask you something Jo (me thinking it was something to do with the ex) i turned around and he was pulling a box out of his pocket. he said i want to know if you will marry me, i have to say i laughed (whilst hugging him) for ages before he said does that mean yes then. we had been together (2nd time) for about 6 weeks when he proposed and we were married a year later. if fact we have gone from 0-married with 2 kids in less than 3 and a half years!

I have never been proposed to but have been engaged twice (2nd person i'm currently married to). The first time my ex just said lets get engaged and we bought rings for each other (makes me cringe when I think about it now ). The second time I kept asking my OH when were we going to get married and he just kept smiling at me and saying not yet. Our best friends got engaged and not long after my OH told me to pick a ring I liked and that was it.....not very romantic

My hubby planned a lovely proposal for me. He took me to Chester to stay in the Chester Grosvenor because when I was a little girl I always used to love seeing the doormen outside when I was shopping in Chester and I always thought you had to be really important to stay there! We spent the afternoon shopping, then in the evening we went for drinks and a lovely meal. He seemed to be drinking loads and acting strangely but I had no idea why! When we got back to the hotel he gave me a hug and said he had something important to ask me then proposed! He had bought me the most gorgeous ring and I found out he'd been conspiring with my best friend to get my ring size for ages! After he'd calmed down though I made him get down on one knee and do it again properly haha! xxx

Me and o/h talked about getting engaged several times and I found a beautiful forever diamond ring in H samuels (was a bit pricey so never imagined getting it). Probably for near on a year on and off we would go in there so I could look at 'my' ring lol and sometimes the shop assistant would ask if i wanted to try it on, felt like just a dream and it would never happen. Any way Valentines day this year o/h said he would take me out for a meal at our fav restaurant didnt think anything of it. When we was in between courses o/h got a box out of his coat and I thought he had bought me a necklace lol but he then went on 1 knee and popped the question . Was a complete surprise and I couldnt believe it but I said yes straight away.
