Grr some of the staff I manage do my head in.

Part of my job is go around and observe them in action, I fill out a field visit report and we then have a monthly review afterwards in which I'll give feedback etc and a chance for them to raise any issues

Well before me management was a bit lax and didn't come out as often as they should, so they're not used to it. I have one lady who has worked with the comapny for 20 years and I sent her an email as courtesy to say I would be visiting her on Wednesday to accompany her and have a chat after.

Well she replied

I will be in at 8am so will meet you at 9am however I need to leave by 9.30 to get my car MOT'd. I don't think it's necessary for you to accompany me as I have been doing this job a long time. See you at 9am Shocked

WTF!!! How rude is she??? Would you speak to your manager like that. I so want to sack the stupid cow but I don 't think I can sack her just because I don't like her, I'm really going to have to bite my tongue when I see her tomorrow.

Needless to say I replied telling her it wasn't optional and would take as long as it would take and it would be best if she didn't make personal appointments within working hours!

I am continually amazed at how some people speak to their managers. I could not be so rude to anyone let alone my manager!! Good for you for not standing for it - you will have to let us know how the meeting with her goes.

Some people just want it all their own way i think, for example where i work we ask everyone to take 2 days holiday over the christmas period and in return they get 2 full weeks off. You would not believe the numnber of complaints i get about this each year as they think it is disgusting that they have to use 2 days hol to get 2 weeks off WTF End of rant!

OMG Mandy, how rude was she! Does she not know that you're her manager!!??!! I'm actually shocked that she thought it was ok to get her car MOT'd during work hours (erm book a morning off or work overtime and claim it in lieu)!!! Dear lord how has she kept a job for 20 years!!!!!

You'll probably find that she has picked up some awful habits as she has "been doing this job a long time" with no monitoring. Good luck with her hun! x

The thing is because she's been so rude now I'm going to go in with a negative attitude towards her and pick holes in her work so she's not done herself any favours. I wouldn't mind wuite so much if she was fantastic at her job but she's not hitting the targets that have been set for her and she's always had an attitude problem. If she carries on the way she is I don't think she'll make 21 years Laughing
