well the day started with me being on an early shift (too early to drop hannah off at nursery because it isnt even open) and my oh moaning at me because I wasnt taking her and it was raining! I never take her when Im on an early it wasnt a new thing.

then get to work and its mobbed all day so much so that I didnt have time for lunch and made it through the day on an apple! the vet was busy operating when a three week old puppy got rushed in dying and it died while I was trying to save it.

was supposed to be going out for dinner with friends and hannah wasnt feeling too good so we couldnt go. got a takeaway instead and the cat was jumping in my dinner while I was eating and hannah was spitting her own dinner out on my plate because she didnt like it. how lovely. I thought I was going to explode as I was so hungry and felt ill due to not eating all day.

My oh decides to tell me that hes quitting his job because get this "cant handle the responsibility" if this was the case none of us would work fgs.

hannah then decides to scream and cry for two hours in her bed before finally falling asleep two minutes ago.

I swear I just want to throw things around the room in a big rage.

thing is I think hes being serious. hes head chef. his boss has told him to sack two members of staff. hes been off the past week and the owner went in one day and the kitchen was a riot so he phoned my oh to say he thinks the staff have been taking the piss out of him while hes been away and asked him to point blame somewhere and sack someone. the hard bit is hes had to sack his best mate who is sous chef and was in charge this week. so not only has he to sack a full timer hes to sack a part timer because the boss thinks they are spending too much money on wages. so my oh is going to be two staff members down and needing to work more hours when he already works 50 hours.

he cant handle the responsibiltity of it all but was head chef in another restuarant for 3 years and 10 month ago he decided he wasnt happy so he moved to his current job taking a 3 grand wage drop which was a huge compromise so he would be happy. 10 month down the line hes in the exact same position as he was before.

he keeps saying he wants to do other jobs this is the list hes thrown at me in the past 3 month - a nurse, a taxi driver?, a sports therapist or something similar, a police officer.

now when he has said each of these things to me ive said look into them - find out how long the courses will be and what you can do and each time hes not bothered his arse but moans at me constantly about it? what does he want me to do wave a wand and he will be a nurse???

Oh god, if you're anything like me you feel really unsettled when your OH talks about taking risks and leaving his job.

I know chefing is very stressful, even more so when you're short staffed and don't have the managers support. If he got into the police or the fireservice he'd enter on a really decent wage so maybe give him a kick (in the balls) in that direction? I agree though - no point him banging on if he won't do anything about it.

I am very unsettled we have been saving and saving for years now so we have a deposit for a mortgage and we are finally on our home stretch of saving and we will have a 10% deposit by christmas and he wants to shift job. Ive only been working in my current job for a few month now if we are both changing jobs all over the place then we will never get a mortgage.

I feel like im being selfish by not being supportive but in a way hes being selfish too as we are doing so well and we could be back at square one especially if he wanted to go to uni or college. we would be spending our savings on rent.

as for ur oh i know a bit of what ur going thru my oh quit his job last year cos he wasnt happy (not many ppl r in there job) things have luckily turned out fine for us and he looks after evan whilst i work so we r savin on nursery fees and him and evan have really bonded etc
hopefully ur oh will find sumit quick thats gonna make him happy x
