I had another appointment with the consultant today and he measured me at 39 weeks (im 36+1) and said I have a stonker of a baby, lol!

He didnt scan me and just said that he wanted to come up with a plan, which is:

38 weeks (Wed) - stretch and sweep with him
Fri after - stretch and sweep with midwife
Monday after - stretch and sweep with midwife

If nothing happens by the Wednesday (39 weeks) he was to do a full induction to get her out.

He has put on my notes that there is a risk of shoulder dystocia, where her shoulders may not be able to come out and I may need a c section, but I will worry about that if it happens.

Eeek... 3 weeks to go!!!

Ok, I assumed that the shoulder dystocia meant that they would do a section, but now im not sure from reading on google.

Has anybody else experienced/heard of it? x

I remeber there being a girl on Ab whos second had it and with her third she was sectioned, she disappeared right after having the baby though so that dosn't really help at all does it

My cousin was also told she was going to have a 'stonker' (not the actual term, but i like it!) she was booked straight in for a section as she is only tiny herself. Turns out he was 6.5lbs This is in Cyprus though and they dish c secs out

If I had said that I wanted a c section he would have booked it in there and then... but as he is sorting things out before 40 weeks I want to try to get her out without one if possible.

I would hate not being able to lift Aimee or drive for 6 weeks, especially with Xmas coming up x

Hey laur... I wouldn't listen too much hun, I was back & fore as measured so 'big' growth scans were showing a whopper, at 38 weeks I wad measuring 41 told I was to be induced they wouldn't let me go further incase of the shoulders. But because she was on the bigger side my body knew So to speak & had her week early (so the Mw put it to me) and she wasn't that bug after all 8lb 2.&1/2 which they said she was about 36 weeks. So they got it wrong.
Few oct mummies from ab were told to have woppers & induced & small babies.

I'm sure all will be ok, at least you know they are keeping an eye. But eek 3weeks im excited for you!!! X x

I was the opposite they told me my son was average and measuring exact for dates although all scans showed he was larger than average then i ended up with forceps as he was 9lb7 this time they are saying the same yet at my 4d scan at 25 weeks they said she was already 2lb+
