How long are sausages OK to store in the freezer for? It's just a regular 3-drawer fridge/freezer (not deep freeze) the door of which gets opened at least 2/3 times a day (whether I need anything out of there or not, courtesy of a little minx...) and they've been in there 6 months Food standards agency says 'check the food label' well, if I had that, I wouldn't be checking their bloomin website! Branded sites like richmond, walls etc. I can't find any info. Have defrosted them in the fridge overnight so is it oven or bin for them do you reckon? Any help appreciated! xx

I think they should be ok, I've kept sausages in the freezer for months and we've been ok. As long as they are defrosted thoroughly and cooked until they are super hot int he middle they should be fine. I've been known to just chuck frozen sausages in the oven but doing it that way takes ages, about an hour or so as you can't whack the heat up too high too soon. xx

ooo er! I'm sure I go longer than a month usually but I guess 6 is pushing it by your estimation Mario ! Pork is properly dodgy though isn't it... P.S. - pmsl - I have no idea what that symbol is in the subject line - it's bean's handiwork and I don't even have a key for that sign or know the shortcut?! Trying to do it again myself and I'm stumped

2 to 1 for not risking it then. I'm guessing I should chuck out the meatballs that have been in there just as long...? Yeesh, hate wasting food but better safe than sick as a dog I suppose! Now then, do we think homemade wedges and a can of tuna sounds just as appealing?!

Do you have any tomatoes? Tuna, tomatoes, cooked pasta all mixed together and put into an oven proof dish at 190 (gas mark 6 I think) for 20 mins then put grated cheese on top then put it back in for another 10 mins - delicious

Id bin the suasages, but im really picky about foods and know I wouldnt enjoy eating them. Id be constantly sniffing my fork & pondering how ill I felt on a scale of 1-10 all evening... As for Caitlin and the laptop - her fave trick is to push a random selection of buttons that makes the screen go sideways. Nightmare to fix!

My OH says they are fine if you cook them straight away once defrosted, and he has to know these things working with food. We've had meat and sausages in the freezer for 90 million years and still used them and they've been fine hun xx

I think I'd eat them if they were in there for 3 months but I think 6 would be pushing it a bit too far. Having said that I'm sure I've eaten stuff at MILS that's been cryogenically preserved since the dinosaurs roamed the earth

I actually don't ever pay attention to the labels on the packets... they're in a worse case scenario really aren't they to cover themselves lol obviously I wouldt leave fresh stuff for months but when it's been frozen straight from purchase and it gets cooked straight away I dont see the harm... unless it's gone green !? lol.
