| This probs won't help but my mum gets a 19lb/20lb (so 8/9kg?) turkey for about 6people but it is massive, she just loves to cook a big one so there's plenty for boxing day and stew. |

| Iv no clue as last year (1st xmas dinner on own) I scrounged a wedge off my mum who cooks hers on xmas eve. I googled - what size turkey should I buy?... and most answers given were 1lb per person for the meal itself and 1.5lb per person if you want leftovers for sandwiches. That would be 9lb. There is 2.2lb in a kg so... hang on till I get my mobile for converter... that works out at just over 4kg. Id say 5kg would do, but if you wanted to play it safe incase people take bigger portions 6kg? Im not the best to take advice from on this, dont blame me if you get a massive turkey |

| I usually buy a 9k and theres plenty for everyone and loads left over. I smother it in butter, stuff it with an apple and stuffing, lay strips of smokey bacon over it and cook it. It comes out golden brown and absolutley delicious!!! xx |

I also cook a gammon joint for tea for sandwiches and we have mince pies and cheese and biscuits. | I can't vouch for the turkey as we normally get geese and ducks - but they taste great - much better than the supermarket ones.
Mind you at almost £10/kg for the goose it had better taste good! I didnt need as big a goose though as the meat is so rich |
