| Hello peeps, Right, I'm doing Moo's birthday cake again this year and have decided to do a dinosaur cake, with cupcakes round with dino themed toppers (such as dino eggs, dino foot prints and a little dino heads) I was wondering how soon in advanced I could prepare the toppers? His birthday is a week on Saturday but I wanted to start getting a wriggle on with sorting it all. Also, how soon would you bake the cake and bun's and 'dress' them? Last yr it was all a mad rush the night before, doing the cake, but it would be better if I could get some of the toppers done so they are just ready to go when i've done the cake. Last Q (for now ) I'm also doing home made buns, biscuits cakes/loafs etc, when would you prep them..how long do they keep for?

| You can prepare the toppers 7 days in advance as long as you cover them well and keep them in an airtight container somewhere cool.
I normally make my cakes on a Wednesday or thursday and decorate them the following evening for a Saturday and again, cover them well or icing it will keep it fresh
Cakes and buns etc I would normally say 5-7 days depending on how they're stored |

| Thats great, thank you girls I'll make a start this weekend. I've got all these idea's and can't wait to get started lol Just one more thing - Mandy, when you say storing the toppers somewhere cool, what about the fridge? or would a cupboard be sufficient? They'll be in an air tight container. |

| Yes what Lisa said, I assume you're making them from fondant? The colours run in the fridge too, just a cool dry cupboard is fine x |
