PostSubject: Ebay help   Ebay help EmptyThu Aug 26, 2010 7:27 pm

I wondered if any experienced ebayers can give me some advice please. I have recently bought LIly a dress from there and also some shoes from a different seller. When the dress arrived it is lovely however there is a rip in the hem - i think i can prob fix it but i am a bit grumpy as this was not expained on the item description nor shown in the photos and it is quite big. Am i being too picky?? What should i do about it??

Then the shoes came and they were the wrong size!! So i emailled the seller who disputes the sizing on the grounds i have converted in wrongly from european sizes and wont take them back. I stand firm and send info about sizing which shows they are wrong. They agree to accept them back and i post them off, they have refunded the money but i am still out of pocket by about £4 due to paying postage to send them back. Is this usual practice?

Thanks for any advice anyone can give xx

hi kate, for the first one i would inform the seller, they would usually either offer a return of the item or may give you a partial discount.

for the second one they are only obliged to give you the original amount back but personally i would offer to pay costs, again i would contact seller, to say this is an appropriate action, if they decline, leave neutral or negative feedback.

I would take photos and email the them to the seller, if it were me I'd ask for a partial refund to cover repairing it. If the seller doesnt agree to this then (if you paid by paypal) open a dispute within paypal and request a partial refund on the grounds that the item is faulty. If the seller was quite stubborn I would escalate it straight away (this means that paypal will decide for you regardless of what the seller has already said)

Unfortunately Yes, it is absolutely appalling that even when goods are misdescribed/faulty that the buyer has to foot the cost of P&P to return the item. Some decent sellers will refund the postage back but they are not obliged too. The worst thing is of course you have to do it by recorded post becasue if you dont they might say you didnt return it! (also paypal requires a racking number if you ever do a dispute through them)
