Of 1 not feeding Hollie!!! And 2 being around people who smoke!!!

I'm so upset just had hv (who hasn't been to see us for 3weeeks!! She never turned up last few weeks) just weighed Hollie she's only put on few oz in 3weeks. She now still only weighs 9lb 4oz (which thinking about it she's put on 7lbs! But on her chart it's flat line. So her exactwords were 'well you've got to think about your daughter. When she's hungry feed her ! Don't skip feeds! I'm sure we had this problem with lillie !!' WTF?!?! 1 no we never had this problem before lillie was a hunger monster & we had no probs what so ever! & 2 what? I feed every 3hours!! Iv never missed a feed, how can you anyway? If she's crying does she think I ignore her??? What then went to say ' know Xmas is coming &your busy but its important you feed he' I was so shocked I didn't know what go say. I feed her Every 3 hours at night it's constant from 8-11 I dot move! I feel like a total failure bf!!! So upset more that she thinks I starve me kids !!
Then went to say Lillies coughing been to Drs as she's so poorly. She then went to say 'well you must be around people who smoke!' what??? No!!! She's got a cold & cough!! It's fricking -10 past night winter people get colds & coughs!! I'm so upset. So upset she thinks that of me!! Poor Hollie I
Just it good enough for her it feels after she said all that she saw I was gobsmacked and she got up and left didn't say bye!! What?!?! I use to like her!!
Rob said I should report her or I should have said something but was shocked.

You are doing a fab job ! BF is so hard, your HV should be doing everything to encourage you. She sounds shit at her job because she has basically just put doubt in your head about how well you are feeding, her goal should be to support you. I would def report her.

I know she's bang out of order & worst thing is she had a student nurse with her who happens to be a friend (not close close but know her well enough) & she's my landlords daughter. Who live next door. I just think bey she's telling them I don't feed her. Mind know she shouldn't confidential & all but I'm getting paranoid! Feel like going next door (she's there now) & asking her what she thought about what she just said. Bit don't want to make her feel awkward torn between work & me.
Argh like rob says need to let it go, can see hollies well & plenty of covering she's far from skin & bones lol but just feel now my milks not good enough. Seeing as hols my last if oh has his way, I want to hang on to bf as long as I can. Stupid really hols health cones 1st but don't want to give this up so soon

So mad for you - deff complain: in writing and ask for a full reply - she could be making every mum feel like this in her care, even worse when BFing as it is so intimate and personal to you (Lord knows you don't need any help with the doubting thoughts of is it enough / substantial / etc.) and again even worse if she does it to 1st time mums who know no different and are that bit more vulnerable! - she could be causing a rash of pnd and mums swapping to formula for no reason other than peer pressure!

You know your mummy instincts and they are rarely wrong, one of the good things to come out out of labour and birth I like to think

Please take care and while ignoring her also make sure she is held accountable - for making you feel inferior and especially in front of a very easily influenced student who will learn that her was of doing things is the 'norm'.

I agree with all the others..I'd mention it to the surgery. Its out of order that she should say that, and she clearly needs some 'people skills' training Tbh, it also sounds like she was maybe showing off or asserting her authority as she had a trainee with her. Its not on.

does she realise that the charts in the red book are based on bottle fed babies, i had a similar thing happen with oliver, the line kinda went flat, but it finally settled between 25th and 9th centile, and he is happy and healthy, just means he's not going to be a tall adult from my hv's mouth(who btw wasnt concerned), from reading around it seems like it can be common for bf babies not to follow the centiles...as long as she is putting on weight then she's fine, your doing a brill job, tell her to stick her centiles up her arse xx

what an absolute cow, id def put in a complaint about her not jst to ur surgery id try and find out who her boss is and put a written complaint in to her actual boss thats absolutely shocking what she said to u and extremely unprofessional

Thanks ladies now iv calmed down feel bit better, as rob says I need to grow some balls!!

That's what's happened she's dropped from 25th to 9th but I'm small all my family are and robs family are too so no chance them being big! Just like to worry you don't they only just been to the peadatrition few weeks with lillie as she's 'too small' but he just laughed saying she's fine. Argh bet if they put on too much weight then that will be wrong too!!

Id def put in a complaint about her and see if you can get changed to another hv. You need to have one who supports you hon. *Hugs*

As for Hollie not gaining as much weight, well thats ridiculous, BF babies sometimes dont gain quickly and she should know that being a 'professional' (although I question that).

I do understand that you dont want to complain as you 'know' her but maybe say something to her when you see her next.

But please dont give up because of what that silly moo said - I had the exact same problem and perservered and it turns out Libby is just tiny (just like Lillie)
