Those of you that have LO's with baby eczema, do you find it flare up at this time of year?? Cerys had it when i first weaned her then it disappeared but its come back quite bad. Its all over her back, stomach and in the creases of her elbows. Im assuming its the dry heat of being indoors. Have been putting plenty of diprobase on and will be getting some oilatum as well. Any other tips?? xx

What body wash do you use on her Leah?

If not already tried, maybe swap to something free of SLS - lots of mums say it helps with eczema

Looks like boots sell it now, which is good as I love it!

Sodium Laureth / Lauryl Sulphate (SLS / SLES)

Sodium
Laureth
/ Lauryl Sulphate (SLS/SLES)
is the most common surfactant used in toiletries to make them
foam and cleanse. It's widely used by big manufacturers as it is cheap
and effective but it can sometimes cause skin irritation or aggravate
serious conditions like dermatitis or eczema. This is because, being a
harsh detergent, it can strip the skin and hair of its natural oils. We
use plant based natural alternatives for a gentler product.

Andrew has had excema since about 4 or 5 months old and it has recently just flared up quite badly Sad He has it in the creases of his elbows, arms, legs, backs and front of knees and tummy Sad We are using the oilatum in the bath and he has doublebase moisturiser and its getting better.

How often do you moisturise her? Do you bath her every night? We were told not to bath every night as it dries out the skin and we moisturise 3 or 4 times a day. It's getting better with moisturising!! We get oilatum on prescription for him.

If it gets really bad then take her to the docs they can either try another moisturiser or if its really bad they give Andrew a mild steroid cream.

I think it is the central heating that dries their skin out because its on a lot in the winter

Sad poor lamb I hope she feels better soon!!

Its more than likely the dry heat, i've noticed generally in myself that my skins been really dry lately. Oliver doesn't suffer from eczema as such but he does get the odd dry patch. We used aqueous as a soap substitute and that works a treat too.
Although i've just read an article that says many dr prescribe aqueous just as a cream which can actually make eczema worse, and that it should be used as a 'soap' for the full benefits.

They've just started selling the halo's and horns range in asda too Wink

oooooh thanks Lisa for the info. I use Johnsons Lavender Baby Wash and have for a few months now. She has a bath 2-3 times a week and i dont always "wash" her i just let her have a splash about.

Zee yeh ive head that too about aqueous cream. Might take her to see docs if it gets worse.

Thanks ladies Very Happy x
