| Wow, is she a Lab hun?? That seems really out of character.....Have the girls maybe pulled her ears or tail or anything?? the only reason I ask is my Lab is really funny around small children, but thats because my nephew pulled her tail when she was a pup and she's never forgotten it xx |

| Was it a proper bit or just mouthing? Mouthing is normal for young dogs - as its what they do with their siblings.
Its best to try to keep her away from the kids when she is excitable and mouthy, and let them fuss her when she is calm.
How often and how long for do you exercise her each day? |

| Is it biting from anger or general giddyness? When she does that I would give a stern no and put her in the kitchen or outside. (the dog not the girls ) |

| my dog is majorly hyper she is a boxer but she is amazing with evan, he completely torments her, sits on her, tries to sleep in her bed with her, pulls at her all the time (which he isnt actually gettin away with he gets in trouble if he pulls her ears or tail) when they are rolling about playing tho she does mouth him not bite, jst like nipples at him with her lips its not hard tho and its only like her front lip she wud never bite him or do it if she thought she was hurting him she has done it to me and its actually really tickly tho lol and evan finds it hilarious, if they are gettin to boisterous with one another i seperate them tho cos as much as i know she wudnt bite or hurt him she is a big dog and i guess every dog has a limit aswell so maybe when ur pup and the kids are being boisterous u jst need to give them some time out from eatch other until they calm down a bit! was it a proper bite? if it was id keep an eye on it cos if it continues to happen u may have to consider gettin rid of the pup, if it was jst like a mouth thing with no aggression then i think jst separating them when they get to hyper might work |

| I'd say she needs probably 2 good walks a day minimum 45 mins a go, usually morning and evening after they have had their food as it encourages them to do their poos outside on the walk, as exercise helps them go.
also I'd say get her some bitey toys, like rope pulls, so she can bite on them. then make sure she knows the difference between an arm to mouth on and the pull - so if she goes to mouth on your arm tell her no and give her the rope pull instead and maybe have a little tug with her |

| No I have never taken mine to training.....thats not saying they dont need it lol...they bluddy do On the one level my dogs are very well behaved, they both return to my whistle...but certain things each of them do drive me insane! Denny barks LOADS on the lead - I have now got a solution after picking up a horse whip at my mums lol, I have never touched him with it, but I whack it to make a whoosh noise and the noise scares him, so I just have to pick it up and he stops...its just a pain he does it in the first place. I tried one of those silent beepy things, but he took no notice of that. Biggles is a very good dog, and loose he is fab and comes to heel whatever I want til he is near the car, then he becomes deaf and just runs to the car - wont stop - regardless of the fact there is a road between him and the car! I never bothered with mine as they have never been a 'problem' I'd say if you can its worth it, although it aint cheap and can take alot of time and effort to see any results. What you describe does sound just like puppy mouthing, they don't realise how sharp their teeth are, and she is big so it kinda hurts! Both mine are tiny dogs, so it didn't seem so bad, but non the less they did mouth me. She doesn't sound like a nasty dog, just playful, nothing strange there. I hope you work something out though. Do you have her crated? It can be a good thing to do - if you dont know why maybe have a read about it http://www.k9web.com/dog-faqs/crating.html , its not a form of punishment at all, its a secure place for a dog to feel safe while contained. They see it as their den where they can also retreat themselves if they want. I dont really agree with sticking a dog outside for 'unwanted' behaviour...all that does is say they aren't part of the pack, when in fact they are part of the pack, they just need to learn their place. Sticking a dog outside might just make the problem worse. |
