OK so after the hoohaa with my SIL, I've been thinking (and worrying) about Christmas.

Normally we all go round my parents on Christmas Eve and open pressies (family tradition as my mum is German) but we had already decided that this year we will start our own tradition that we are at home just the 3 (4 next year) of us and then family can come round on Boxing Day with their pressies. BUT because of whats happened I'm now thinking of just shoving some cash in a card and dropping it off at my brother & SIL's house on Christmas Eve so I dont have to see them.

I really cant face my SIL - I just dont know what to say to her and I definately cant pretend that everything's OK because well TBH I'm still gutted.

Do you think this sounds OK? I really cant see any other way around it.

First off..you have done absolutely nothing wrong to make you avoid any family gatherings. I would still go if I were you, and hold my head up high. I would simply ignore her, and act like she didn't exist. Don't miss out if you don't have to because of one person's ignorance! You are awesome..an incredible mom and wife, a thoughtful loving daughter and be proud of who you are and all you stand for!! xxx

I agree with Jen, you shouldn't have to miss out just because she's such a biatch. Could you maybe see your Mum before hand and leave there cash/card with her to give to them? x

Lisa, I had thought about doing that but I'm trying to keep my parents out of it all - they seem to think that if we all get together everything will be rosey again (although I should think it's wishful thinking, bless them). See this has only happened over the last few days yet they gave mine and Libby's cards/pressies to my parents to give to us - which hurt because it's like they cant be arsed to make the effort to come and see us. The way I thought was if I drop it through their door at least I have made the effort - if that makes sense?

i agree but if you and the rest of your family will feel awkward/uncomfortable and if its likely to cause an unpleasant atmosphere then id do what you suggested. although you shouldnt have to.
do you not think that maybe your SIL will have the same idea and not go??
or could you go and make her feel very uneasy and hope she leaves early?

I think its sounds fine- if thats what you really want and where thinking of doing before the bad feelings between you and SIL started.
However if its purely to do with avoiding her, I would make yourself still go. Its YOUR parents house, she is only married to your bro and not their blood realtive (I know that sounds harsh). You shouldnt miss out on libby and her grandparents having xmas fun over a grumpy biatch who just stuck her nose in and stirred trouble for no good reasom.
It would be dif if it was a SIL on your OHs side, then I prob would avoid goin to inlaws and having to see her. I think its the point that its YOUR mum and dad thats making me say you should go.

Maybe she will feel like a twat, and she doesnt even have a leg to stand on with regards your mum being annoyed- because you know she wasnt, I think she will prob just avoid the issue so a confrontation is unlikely. If she's already left prezzies over for all you know they are planning on ducking out too. x

You might be surprised hun..she may realize how horrid she has been to you and ask you to forgive her. If you don't go..you will never know. xxx
