If you dont mind telling...how much do you pay for nursery fees??? I pay £30 a day for Lottie and £27 for Abbie (I get a 10% sibling discount). It's a Sure Start Nursery run by Leeds City Council. I understand it's cheaper than some other private run nurseries. However they are looking at putting the fees up to as much as £36 per day!!!!! I think this is a massive leap and will increase our nursery bill so much. It used to be a really good nursery (my sister used to work there and wouldn't let me send the girls if she didn't think it was good enough), well it still is, but they have had some massive staffing issues (lots of Mat Leave and Sick Leave recently ). Abbie started in May and she is already on her 3rd Key Worker due to staff changes. Both the girls love going and they are very settled, but it's not not exactly close by though it is on my way to work. I just don't feel as 'enthusiastic' about the place at the moment. Anyway sorry for twittering on! xx

Ooo i cant help on this but would be interested in seeing whats the 'average' as I really dont want to go back to work this time at all, so need to weigh up if its worth me going, as if i do it will only be for 2 days a week, im not leaving them anymore than that. So if im working just to pay childcare costs then im not bothering. xx ps hope your ok hun, long time no speak xx

This is it!! I feel like I am working just to pay the fees. They only go 2 days a week and I work 2.5 days. We only have a bit left after we have paid the fees, but whats left almost pays the mortgage each month. It's just soo hard BTW Hello Steph!!! How are H&J?? xx

Sorry hun - I can't really help either. Steph - I looked into it for my two monkeys and for me to go back to work full time in a similar role to my last job (I was made redundant last year) it would cost between £950 and £1200 (I would probably go for the average) a month so going off my previous wage (after tax) I would be around £150 a month better off a month which for me just isn't worth it (taking into account travel costs would be even less). I don't have the option of doing weekends/evening work as OH does weird shift changes and I have no one near who could help out . Might sound a bit selfish but I am desperate to get back out to work in some capacity but it's just not worth it. xx

I can't believe how expensive nursery fees are in the UK... and they wonder why parents don't go back to work!

It is £35 per day for each of mine. Luckily my mum helps out also, so Immy only goes 2 days and Isla 1 day (i work 3 days). After Christmas Immy will get her funding because she is 3, so it will reduce our costs. I had wanted to reduce my hours down to 2 days, as the extra day at work is purely to pay for their childcare, and i would rather be with them. I want them to go to nursery for some of the time, but for me up and beyond a certain level i don't feel it is beneficial for any of us. (However i do realise some people need/have to work full time and have their children in nursery full time, etc, i'm not getting at those of you!) x x x

I looked into putting Chloe in a couple of days and it was £60 a day Needless to say we didn't pursue that one. I'm lucky I have family to look after her but feel she would benefit being around other kids but I just can't justify that cost

| We currently pay £63 a day but from Weds it's £57.75 as he turns 2.
ALot of things are going up again due to the climate
Also thats a 20% increase per day (I hope I worked that out properly). I'd be asking them why its so much and they should tell you why |

It's a council run nursery, as all councils departments are being stripped to the max they are looking at ways to bring in as much money as they can I suppose. Kelly, when you look at it like thats 20% is a massive increase!! They have asked for feedback on this so I will use this figure. It's looking at almost £100 a month increase, seriously who has that kind of money to spare????? I will also suggest that if they are putting it up that much that they do it in stages, ie put it up to £33 for now increase it again in 6 months. xx

The nursery I work at is £27.50 a day, but that is subsidised because its a RAF nursery and we work on minimum costs and there is no profit to the nursery whatsoever. The nearest one to me other than that is £40+ a day. xx

We pay £33 per day (this includes all food), she only goes 2 days a week. My work run childcare vouchers which saves me about £40 per month in tax x

When i looked at nurseries for C the one behind me was 5 pound an hour but i think that included food but for 5 hours for me to sleep after a night would have been 25. Saying that the childminder she went to was 4 pound an hour. I was doing rest juggling with family and 1 morning a week When i got back to work next year im not sure what im gonna do yet but im gonna start investigating after new year for the autumn to give me time to work it out!!!
