ok so i do like the snow but it has to come at the time of year where it ruins plans!!

it is my cousins little boys 2nd birthday party this afternoon but it has been cancelled! also my friend that i used to work with lives about 30 min walk from work and it is think with black ice and snow there, she called work to say she couldnt get in as it was hard to even walk there and they told she has to come in as they have no staff in hardly and she lives the closest (they sell fuel) so she walks to work gets half way there slips over and has broken her ankle in 3 places and has to now have an opp tomorrow on it!! talk about bad luck!

i cant belive how work treated her! they should have made her go in!

they made me drive 17 miles to work from where i live last year, it was the worst experiece of my life, my heart was in my mouth the whole journey! my friend who lives about 25 miles away from work also was told she had to go in last year and proceeded to write off her car on the way there!

i mean come on the business' not care for their staff atall, surely their saftey is the most important!

luckly my friend who crashed and wrote her car off escalated what happened to hr and the paid for it all so she got a new car and didnt loose her no claims! but thats not the point, people shouldnt be put in that situation in the first place!!

sorry for the rant but it really pees me off!!

It's a nightmare isn't it, I had a wedding cake to deliver yesterday and matt took it as I was too ill, and the bride was saying that half her guests can't get there, the florist hasn't been able to get delivery of her flowers and the photographer wasnt sure he was going to get there either. I picked up matts uncle from heathrow Saturday as all flights had ben cancelled, he's still trying to get home o Canada to spend Christmas with his family and there were so many people crying at the airport who were trying to get home, but couldn't even leave the airport as there were no taxis or trains. This country really needs to invest in preparing for extreme weather, it's the third year now its brought the country to its knees

so true, why is the country always so un prepared....they just dont learn from previous experiences!!

Nightmare. Your poor friend, hope her op goes ok.
Luckily I don't work so have no where to be meaning I can just stay inside, but hearing all the story of the nightmares people are having it really makes you think we need to invest in preparing for this sort of thing. It's just ridiculous that every year the entire country comes to a stand still.

We wouldn't exactly need much, people just need to invest in tire chains. That's what people in Europe use! I don't think the councils should be held 100% responsible! They do the best the can given the circumstances.

It's a real shame your friend broke her ankle because your boss is an arse! I agree staff wefare is paramount! I wouldn't have gone in if it were me! I'm pretty sure my oh wouldn't have let me either!
