And would you recommend one? Veeeeeeerrrryyyy tempted even though pennies are short - washing up is driving me nuts and feels like such a chore and waste of time - takes a chunk out of our days / evenings - which will be even more precious once 2nd bub arrives! BUT - are they expensive to run, do you need hot and cold feed, are they a pain to load / unload... ?? xx

Just hot water feed. You can get portables..or built ins! If you lived here..there are always used ones for sale that are in awesome shape for cheap! xxx

^ that's what we need Jen, 2nd hand ideally but no big market for it over here. Will have to measure the gap available (where washing machine is, which would have to go elsewhere!) and I'm sure we only have cold water feed there and see if it's an option. Just can't decide if it's worth the hassle or not - but it rather appealing to find out! xx

I dont know about running costs or the hot and cold feed thing but I <3 my dishwasher! Honestly its so much easier to load and unload than actually washing dishes!! Ours came free with the house lol its a slimline one not a massive one but that does us nicely!

Is there a cold water option? We only have one line going into the dishwasher and its the hot water one. Ours is built in too.

We have an integrated one and when we first moved here last year I used it because it was a novelty but I started to realise that the time spent rinsing and loading, unloading and putting away etc I could probably wash up quicker. I have to wash all the big pans and trays etc anyway so might as well do the lot. It takes ages to run and if one plate or something large isn't positioned right and catches on the spinny thing it doesn't wash properly and needs restacking and rerunning . I also cannot stand cleaning out the filter and find the smell of warm dishwasher too. I am very particular about my washing up and the dishwasher just could not keep up with my standards . Also trying to unload and load with a crawler/toddler around is a nightmare and the sink is out of reach of little arms so needless to say I dont use it anymore apart from the odd occasion when we have visitors. I know a lot of people love them though, I just have OCD issues with washing pots xx

I survived a year of not having one and I swear it was the biggest ball ache going. I'd be lost without mine. I only have a small one and it goes on twice a day usually but I can cope with the extra in bills to gain all that wasted time back x

we have one, its only+a top counter one so some times need to put it on twice. I wash my pans by hand thou. I use cheap daisy dish washer powder as its 5quid and last+months. Plus cheap rinse aid which has lasted like a year and salt which is only a quid but lasts about 2 to 3+months. But as i said its only a small one. Love it!

I wouldn't be without mine, I have insurance on it so if it gives up on me a lil man runs round and makes it all better - it's not that expensive to run, and in my opinion worth every penny

Yep we have one and like alot of ladies have said we couldnt be without it now! Libby loves 'helping' empty it too. Ours is a standard sized free standing one and it only goes on every other day so running bills aren't horendous. Oh and it runs on cold water feed only - it heats the water itself. The tablets we buy are usually the cheapest ones and as long as the salt/rinse aid is topped up it's absolutely fine. xxx

Couldn't live without it! In fact, I've got two, an integrated one in the kitchen that is used constantly and a freestanding one in the utility room which is used for pots and pans etc if we have a big dinner party, also I strip down the cooker and bung it all in every couple months and it comes out lovely.
