| Just wondered how many of us have had this unpleasant experience! Either when you were younger in the family home, or as an adult in your own home? You'd hope this weather would put theives off but am I right in thinking this time of year can bring them out of the woodwork? xx |

| No it's never happened to me. My Grandparents house was broken into when I was on holiday with them though. I was about 9 and hated the thought of going back knowing someone had been all through my room (i had my own bedroom there). It turned into a funny thing though as the burgular just ate all the easter eggs and only stole a pair of old slippers and a really old phone. We think it was the teenager boy down the road who was always getting high and doing weird things. |

| Grace, I got broken into about 3 years ago whilst we were in bed. They broke in the patio doors, stole everything that was on the dining room table which was loads of stuff because we'd just got back from Cyprus a few hours earlier! Then the cheeky buggers stole my car keys and made of with my car!
My daughter heard th revving my car so we called the police who chased my car into a field but the burglers ran off and were never caught and my car was write-off! It caused me so much upset and trouble as I had to claim on my contents insurance, buildings (for the broken patio) and my car insurance! I'm still getting penalised fir it now..... Phew! That turned into a bit of a rant didn't it??? |

| I've never been broken into since I moved out of my parents, but I remember once getting broken into when my parents were still together - It was this time of year and my parents had been out for a few drinks that eve but I remember the early hour of the morn and our dogs were going mental (we had 2 massive Doberman dogs) anyhoo they got through the patio doors to the conservatory saw the dogs and legged it. Then the other time was when my mum and dad divorced and we got housed on an unsavoury estate. we got burgled 3 times in 10mth, one being boxing day, my mum had just had some friends round for dinner..had said good bye etc..me and my bro were in our bed rooms and mum was in the kicthen cleaning up and they just walked into our house and nicked our TV, they didn't even unplug it they just cut the wire! It was only a 14inch tv and they just walked off with it - in the middle of the day My mum cam into the room and was shouting at us for leaving the front door wide open ans we were like 'wtf??', she looked round and noticed it had happend again Thankfully we moved out of that estate the following February but for a long time my mum had trouble getting insurance - they just refused!! |

| Oh my life Awla & BabyMilly - and Zee! Scary stuff. I hate HATE the feeling of being vulnerable to any bugger who fancies taking what you have - but moreso the feeling of, like you say Shell, someone being there and going through your things. Your home is your castle and shouldn't be touched. Hence we're secure to the hilt Growing up we were broken into by a group of kids in the middle of the night - we only heard them becauase we had creaky stairs and the little shits were about to make their way up them - caught one of them and the police did....? Nothing. Hubby was badly broken into when younger too but they were out of the house - came back to an open door and not much else. He is very ocd about checking doors etc. as a result! It properly stays with you though doesn't it. A good thing maybe? - makes you more alert? - but a shame you have to be in the first place! xx |

| OMG I remember this like it was yesterday
When I was young My mum and dad went out 4 the evening leaving me and my sis (who was still in a cot) at home with a babysitter who we knew (or so we thought) Well when it came to bedtime we both got tucked up in bed And a little while l8r the baby sitter (cant remember her name) came into my room with my sis and said "Idont like leaving her in there by herself so she can sleep in with us"
Well a few hour l8r mum and dad came home and the fromt door was open the bloody kettel was left on the doorstep coz we think they were disturbed they had totally cleaned us out my piggy bank was smashed it had bloody 1 & 2 ps in it my mums jewlery the tv vidoes everything but the worst thing was when they went into mum and dads bedroom that had taken a watermelon out of the fridge stuck a knife in it and left it in my sisters cot
ever since then for abolutely years and years I had to sleep with thelight on
There was a tin of paint under a window that hadnt been closed properly and thats how they got in we knew who it was but could prove nothing so they got away with everything
wow i have never told that story b4 what a lot 2 get off my chest !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| My house has a 7ft locked gate, alarm, dog....and ME No fecker best start wi me lol It does make you more cautious though. I'm and OCD freak when it comes to doors and windows. I remember going out with this lad once who lived in a village (prime spots for burglaries in my opinion) and they all left their doors unlocked on a night - I was like |

| I always get paranoid about burglars at this time of year as you do hear horrible stories of people being robbed on christmas eve and all the childrens pressies being taken We were burgled once and it was horrible, we were out and think they ran off when the alarm went off so didnt take much but it was really upsetting to come home and find the back door smashed in etc x |

| My parents house was burgled when I was 9. They climbed in through the bathroom window while we were away for the weekend. Given the size of the window they must have used a young child to get in.
They took my mum's jewellery, a portable stereo and our video. Dad was pleased they took the video though because it was a betamax (does anyone remember those?) and it meant we could get a VHS on the insurance.
My little sister was traumatised and slept on my bedroom floor for years afterwards.
One of our offices at work got broken into a couple of weeks ago and the police took finger prints. They got some really clear ones for a child of about 5 years old. |

| Gill! Yes we also had a Betamax. When my dad went to buy one he to choose between Betamax and VHS. The guy told him that Betamax were far superior and VHS wouldn't be about for long!!!! Lol |
