Perfect Mums - Page 2 _
PostSubject: Perfect Mums   Perfect Mums - Page 2 EmptyFri Jan 07, 2011 8:40 pm

First topic message reminder :

My SIL who lives in America, works full time in quite a high powered job. She works very long hours each day and also has my 11 month old niece.

Well... she is like the perfect mother! She feeds my niece all of this exotic food and cooks everything from scratch twice a day for her too.

When my mum told her that Aimee had a sandwich sometimes, she apparently freaked out and was so shocked that I gave my child bread! scratch

She even has time to write an online blog and take photos (professional photographer) of each meal she makes! I havent even heard of half the food that she makes things out of! Embarassed

So, what am I doing wrong? I barely have the energy to scatch my arse in any given day, let alone do a full time job, cook all these wonderful foods and then write a sodding blog about it!

Sigh Rolling Eyes

yeh well if we all had Clint to do the housework we'd have a clean and tidy house Laughing Wink

I think it makes you normal.

I once read someone say about a mother who doesn't play with their kids all day long - why did they have kids...this person was in fact talking out of her arse as works more than 1 job and does college study...but kids do not need 100% attention!

I know exactly who you are talking about and I have felt bad since reading it because most people agreed! So if everyone could just reassure me that I don't need to play with Ollie for every minute he's awake that would be great lol

Well I can reassure you Lita!

Izzy has, since ever was able to play alone, been perfectly capable and happy to play alone..now she likes to sit alone and look at her books, or play with her dollies alone...and she also likes to read with me and comes with a book to sit on my knee if she so pleases or gets my hand and takes me to where ever she wants to play.
I do voluntarily play with her each day of course....and sometimes she tells me to sod off!

Ha Lisa i presume you was being sarcastic!!! Clint is my 5th child. He may do the washing every now and then and thats it Laughing

I agree, you cannot possibly play with your child all day long!! It would drive me nuts!! They need to learn to spend time on their own too and to entertain themselves. I couldnt live in a messy house and just sit playing with the kids constantly!!! Laughing

They get my attention 24/7 whilst i am doing other things and i will probably spend around 4-5 hrs spread over the day totally focusing on Sam and Archie and nothing else.

Obviously the older kids dont need or want that amount of attention, they are either out, glued to a game/listening to music or annoying me Very Happy

That's what I do with Ollie at the moment, he's quite happy to play by himself. Since reading that post I have felt really guilty for not playing with him more but I spend a lot of the time lying on the settee thanks to lack of energy although I do constantly talk to him and he loves coming to give me cuddles and brings me toys to play with and books to read to him and we snuggle while we watch cbeebies/citv so I suppose that counts in a way doesn't it?

I remember the post too and i actually got into a bit of an argument on the post with another member lol.

Lita even if Ollie is busy doing his own thing and you are in the same room as him just chatting to him this is classed as spending time with him. Sam potters around after me all morning whilst i do my chores, he may brum a car along a surface after my cloth or "hoover" for me. This is spending time with him. He loves having a cloth to help clear up. Even if your just sat on the sofa cbeebies blaring out, you can still interact with him without going into the full blown sat on the carpet playing.

Enough of your guilt mrs!!!! Theres no such thing as a perfect mummy as "some" people would have us believe!!!

I think its great that kids learn to play on their own. I have really appreciated Aimee being used to this since having lily as I would never be able to feed lily, stop her crying, etc if I had Aimee expecting me to play with her 100 percent of my time x
