Just got the gas bill....£370 for 3 months Shocked = £30 a week

Just checked and thats £100 more than last years bill of the same period...then checked the next period Jan-March and it was £517 (£43/wk)....yikes I have GOT to start turning it off cos I seriously do not want a bill over over £600 just for gas in April!

Anyone else had scary heating bills this winter?

Crikey woman, are you heating your street?!

We onlynhad our gas installed last jan so we have just done our first year. Now I'm off we have it on from 6am to 10pm at a temperature of 20/21 degrees. I hope ours doesn't end up that high x

luckly i dont get bills as im on a pre pay metre, with the gas we put the heating on for a max of 4 hours a day and i put about £10 - £15 per week on it, our cooker and water is on gas too. have you all checked you are paying the cheapest rates for your area?? you can check on uswitch or moneysupermarket i think
im with eon for gas and npower for electric (both prepay and electric we only put £5 on a week and we live in a 2 bed terrace house)

xx

We are on Meters as well and ours is about 25 a month also at the moment. Electricity is probably about £10 a week.

Our first bill in our new house was £100 for a month, and that was Oct-Nov. We have since had cavity wall and loft insulation, so hoping it will improve a little bit...

our electric is going to be way more this winter. but that's mostly to do with me being off work so heating, tv, laptop are all on more than normal.

Our leccy is about 180 in summer, £215 in winter, so average around 200/quarter / 66/month / 16 a week

Our combined electric and gas is £68 a month on direct debit. That heats a 4 bed house.

We put our heating on at 15 all the time in the winter then just turn it up for a couple of hours in the evening when Wil is getting ready for bed. It avoids the boiler having to warm up from cold to 20+ degrees because it is the heating up that costs the most (a bit like revving the engine on your car).

I have an electric oil fired radiator in my office and just use that if I am working from home rather than heat the whole house.
