| hmmmmm! so elijah has been doing really well with lumps for a couple of weeks (jars and fresh), and manages baby biscuits, toast, rice cakes etc fine (with just a few coughing fits).
But we recently tried one of the boots stage 2 jars, and again today he had a hipp organic jar and he has had real trouble with them...the boots one looked like sandwich spread the lumps were so big so we thought oh well, its just a bit advanced for now.
Today the hipp one had small lumps but elijah has been coughing and sneezing (he seems to sneeze things out!) and all of the - very clean - bits of potato have come out, nothing else, just lots of tiny cubes of potato! could it be that the potato was too hard? i tried it and they werent soft like pasta etc...
would you persevere? i gave up with the jar today because im on my own and got really worried after 5-6 spoons of elijah not managing to swallow it properly even with water. would you just give up on that particular one for now? or would you have carried on with the jar? i ended up giving him something else that was smoother cos he was still hungry but im not sure if i should have let him keep going and hoped he would 'learn' to get it down??? |

| It might be that the potato was too hard for him or that he didn't like the taste of them lol! I tried just mashing up some veg for Stephen to get it to nice size lumps! I also tried him with peas and sweetcorn that I let him pick up and chew himself which helped get him used to them xxx |

| will maybe try again in a couple of days with that particular one (not that it matters haha he is mostly eating our food now). he seems pretty keen on potato so i think they were just awkward...hard little cubes! yuck!
he has been teething really badly and chewing his lips and things this week i wonder if that is making chewing trickier just now? what do you reckon? |

| it might be that he's got sore gums then which might hurt if the lumps are hard. I've just had someone recommend freezing long chunks of fruit like pear or banana to chew on when teething as it provides a bit of relief. Haven't tried it yet tho! X |

| Thomas was brilliant with lumps and I had no problem changing him to stage 2 jars but he HATED the Hipp ones with little pieces of potato in them - he used to spit them out clean and just swallow the sauce bit . Eli is probably just the same hun - I remember trying to mush the lumps down a bit and they did seem hard. I tried him a few times on that one (is it cottage pie?) and just gave up coz I figured he just didn't like it. Hannah is whole other kettle of fish. She will eat loads of purees - all flavours etc and will happily munch on all kinds of finger foods but WILL NOT entertain stage 2 jars at all she takes one spoonful, spits it out and looks at me as if I'm insane! pmsl xx |

| he seems fine with all the rest, the organix and some other hipp ones, but it was lancashire hotpot i think - he was having none of it! and it was only the potato that came back out nice and clean the rest was long gone haha glad to hear other people had the same experience he went on to have some pureed fruit with rice and ate a whole organix biscuit and all of his other meals today so i suspect it was just those particular ones that were too hard, it didnt look comfy sneezing them out though, i hope he learns to get them out of his mouth! |
