Chloe is quite a clingy child in the sense that if she's around people she doesn't know she's very shy but great with people she's familiar with.

She seems to be getting worse, if we're out at a softplay and it's busy she won't even go and play now, she'll just cry and cling on to me and if it's not busy she'll be ok until another child comes to play near her then she'll run over to me and not go back. She's ok if they're younger than her, it's just if they are a similar age or older, particularly older.

We used to go to loads of groups etc but now I'm working I only go once a week, is there anything i can do to help her confidence other than going more regularly?

Izzy is probably THE most un shy toddler that ever did exist once she feels comfortable...in that she likes to spend a few minutes next to me, sometimes head buried in my knees...she just looks round at people and so long as they leave her alone to settle she will soon be running around like a headless chicken and doesn't give a monkeys where I am!

So the only thing I can suggest is that you let her cuddle up if she is unsure, then maybe go and sit amongst the other children in the softplay so she has no choice but to be near them but so she knows you are there and stay there so she knows you wont leave her, maybe then she'll feel safe to play and maybe move a bit away from you?
