| Getting my sexy lil 9yr old gold peugeot 106 MOTd in the morning I hate taking it to get it done. I get so bloody nervous and cant do what they ask without looking like I shouldnt be out on my own let alone hold a driving lisence! I think I remember that the flick for bonnet is under glove compartment.... but where/what are fog lights? I only occassionally use full beam and thats a struggle to me (I live in town/city and dont drive in bad weather). I hate going through the lights (the last time the guy ended up just telling me to take a seat and another guy jumped in ) Anyone else hate MOTs? Care to explain where I would find fog lights? |

We have to get into correct lane outside (stated on letter), then drive through shutters when waved (and sometimes the pricks redirect you to another shutter which causes great emotional turmoil to me . You then have to sit in car and flick headlights, full beam, indicators, beep horn, wipers, turn engine on and off... then pop bonnet for them to check things. THEN they take keys and you sit and wait while they shake the car about and raise it up to look underneath. It feels like a driving test to me lol I wish I just handed it in at start. Lucky you! |

| Kenty I think you can use the first setting of your lights if you haven't got separate ones. Mine are on the same little sticky out thing my proper lights are on but you twist another twisty bit to make them come on! |

| If you just have rear fogs I think sometimes its a button, rather than on a stalk...although on mine where I have both its on the twisty stalk
How annoying you have to do it...I hand mine over to my garage they check it first, then take it up for its MOT, then if it needs work they do it and have it retested...so it never fails even if it wasnt perfect at the start of the day! |

| How much do you pay for that Lisa? Sounds fab! An MOT is £30.50 and then on Monday there I had a mechanic friend of family service it & check if it needed anything done- that was £80. If it fails il need a retest but would have to book again. Would be no chance of getting a retest appointment that day. I always have to book MOT a week before it expires. I dont even think a garage could arrange for it to be looked at again that day! |

I pay the MOT fee and a tenner for them to check and take it up...plus any labour/stuff it needs...luckily never been much more than a new bulb or small stuff (ouch wood!) |

| Think the English system is alot handier than ours in that garage can do the mots rather than having to take it to a seperate test centre. Hubby always takes the car as I wouldn't have a clue and would probably drive off the ramp into the pit. I had a 106 snoops but can't for the life of me remember where the fog light where. Hope it passes |

| What? The rest of you guys get MOTs done at a garage? We have to go to a special test centre where only MOTs are carried out - no repairs , most are located in same place as where your driving tests start. Found my fog lights . They are on the same stick thing as normal lights - just a twisty bit slightly further down. Piglet Iv never driven up the ramps either. I think for health and safety now they ask you to get out, thank fick! |

| Surely then you's could get some dodgy mechanics just signing off their own shoddy work as roadworthy? Or tell you you need stuff done when you dont? (Though i guess as I get a pre MOT check/service I could be ripped off there) Our system (though a total pain in the arse) at least I suppose checks that work your mechanic/garage have carried out is being done correctly as they are independant/govt ran. Its amazing how different parts of the UK are! |

Its amazing how different parts of the UK are! No the garage have to take it to the proper MOT centre..then the centre say pass or fail, if it fails the garage fix it and take it back |
