| ava goes to bed at 1830 and has always slept through until 7-730am , the past week hes been getting up between 5:30am-6. her rooms right next to ours and she makes loads of noise when she wakes, i leave her but then after 10 mins she crys so i end up getting up. By 8am shes tires again so i put her down for a nap (usually an hour)
any suggestions? i cant make her bedtime later as shes a nightmare when up past 1830. |

| I think you might have to try and put her down a bit later, maybe shifting the times of her naps to make her a bit less grumpy past 630pm. Caitlins sleep patterns/naps changed all the time until a few months ago when routine finally clicked in. I think if a child is doing 11hrs at night you're doing good. Caitlin generally in bed from 8-8, but that maybe asleep at 820pm and awake at 750am. Id aim for a 730pm bedtime. Starting the bath/bottle/wind down at 630pm. Maybe if her afternoon nap is 1-3, try an adjust it to 2-4? It may take a few weeks of tweaking. I think its normal enough at ava's age for them to be tired again within 2hrs of waking. Caitlin used to wake at 9 and then nap without fail at 11. I dont think it was because she wasnt getting enough sleep at night, I think she was hungry/wet/unsettled and once that was sorted and she had a play for an hour she would settle again for a nap. Caitlin dropped her afternoon nap first and stuck to her 11-1230 nap up until a couple of months ago. She now still only takes one nap a day but now its after lunch. Their routines change all the time and can be a shock when we have got used to something. Hope she starts lying in again for you soon x |

| If you find a cure let me know...
I have reached the point where I consider anything after 6 to be a lie in. Wil has never slept through and woken up anything after 7. The only time he sleeps after 7 is if he has been up in the night for more than 1/2 hour (very rarely happens).
5.30 is my regular getting up time these days.
- Try tanking her up with food/ milk in the evening before she goes to bed in case she is waking up hungry.
At least she is waking you with a cry rather than a crescendo of mum, Mum, MUM, MMMMUUUUUUMMMM! |

| One word.... Groclock! OMG, they are AMAZING!!! Aimee was getting up at still hours (6am) and I was seriously exhausted. I got a Groclock (I know they are not cheap at £30), but it was the best thing I ever did. We pop it on before bed and we say 'night night light' to it and then I set it so the 'sun' comes up when she is allowed to get up. I started with doing it for 7pm, then extending it. She now gets up at 8am. I think Jo has one for Alice too. xx |

| My LO went through the very same thing when he was 9/10mth and it carried on for months..we tried 'tweaking' his routines a bit but it didn't work tbh..it wasn't till he turned 1 and dropped his morning nap that we really started seeing results. In the mean time we just used to go in and settle him..it did take a while but it kind of worked. We also left some soft toys and books in his cot which he entertained himself with, but I stuck to my guns and refused to get him up until 7am. Gill - I know you said you've got the groclock now, but I've done the same thing with a plug-in timer and Olivers giraffe lights (grand total £3 ) |

| tbh i think she's a little too young for the groclock but i'll keep it in mind for later. the thing is she's so full of enrgy when she wakes up she needs to let off steam for a few hours and then goes for another nap. I've put her to bed again at 7 tonight so i'll see what the morning brings. |

| Sophia was also like Oliver and Ava at this age. She suddenly just started sleeping less and whatever i did she still got up the same time. Took till just recently (like the last couple of months) for her to start doing 11 plus hours again. Then she got not very well and back to six am but better than five i guess....

| Tylers the same hun it doesn't matter what time he goes to bed he still gets up early.. we find that obviously as he's nearing waking up time he's in a lighter sleep and as such anything can wake him up easier like being a little cold or a little hungry. the onyl solution we've found so far is to fill him up before bed and make sure his room is nice and warm in the morning. |
