....full time student as of next week!

I'm doing 3 A Levels; Photography, Graphic Design & Geography (the 1st 2 were what I intended to do, but didn't realise I could do A levels at 30, so kinda gave up hope of doing them, and Geography was my fav A level when I was at college when I was 17 - those that know me know why I didn't do my exams)

I am so excited!

I gave work my months notice, but have holidays to cover it luckily!

Sounds good hun! Can I be cheeky and ask if it is costing you anything? I would love to get some more qualifications but all the ones I have looked at cost a couple of hundred each. Love how they make it easy for people to learn

I was only going to do Photography and Graphic Design, but they said I might as well do another so that I can get into Uni later

Luckily the college is partnered with the Uni I want to go to, they say students from their college are almost guaranteed a place if they get good grades as they are a priority

thats great lisa..im waiting for amelie to be going to school and then im goign to knuckle down and get some qualifications.. i look at it this way. I will have worked 15 years of my life doigna ajob that i enjoy and like whilst suporting my family..and once there at school i will then work the rest of my life doing something i dreamed of and something else to be proud of other than being amummy xxxxx

and that is to train and be a midwife!!.. lisa i thought this is something you wanted to do ?

I was so confused with what to do now as I decided I didn't want to go to uni in 12 months, wanted to wait until Izzy was in school - so I put it out of my head.

I also decided I didn't want to start the diploma again as its really quite a worthless qualification unless used to go to uni for midwifery, so thought what if I do it and then don't go to uni or decide I want to do something else, like follow my love for photography - its worth nothing!

At least with my A levels I would be able to go for any degree pretty much, and even if I didn't go to Uni I would still have useful qualifications.

They did suggest I do the diploma to get on the midwifery course, but they agreed that unless I knew 100% that's what I was going to uni for then its wasn't worth it (as the diplomas are aimed at those particular degrees)

So by picking A levels I am leaving my options open - although I have to say photography is what I would REALLY want to do - but I had convinced myself I wouldn't get to do A level photography and would never get in to Uni for photography - so now I have more options!

I should stroll though the Geography as the course is almost the same as when I did it, and I was on target for an A, so it will hopefully all come back to me lol

our girls will be goign to school around same age.. so we mayeb be on same road together!! thats if you dont have any more

I think it depends how much the college need more students to study, her words were 'we are really pushing the full time student courses right now' - the booklet said £250 per year per course for my courses (£1500 ) , but the fees lady came and spoke to me and it turned out as I was becoming a full time student then it was £100 a year.
I'm lucky that my local college has recently been drastically improved and they have more spaces than ever before, my friend tried to enrol a couple of years ago and couldn't get in there at all.

So definitely go and see them and ask about fees.

Also depends on your previous qualification, if you don't have 5 GCSEs A-C already then I think its free, but if you have at least 5 A-C then the fees are payable, also depends on age.

Sounds great! I did Geography GCSE and loved it - even if it was nothing to do with countires and flags etc but all plate tectonics, CBD's, field trips and loads to do with features like rivers

This is really random but I'm just going to pm you with another potential item of interest... something else to deal out of my boot at the meet maybe xx

Well I completed my enrolment today ..jeez I have never seen so many scruffy, greasy haired people with low self confidence and issues with the way they look!

Blimey I don't ever remember college like that

Its great cos one of my friends from college days now works there as a marketing manager, so I nattered to her for ages, then I went to see the tutors and my geography lecturer was there, so we were reminiscing about the hilarious field trip we went on to Arthog - she is an amazing teacher - she has a 100% pass mark for geography for 15 years
