I have just found a house for rent that is absolutely perfect for us in everyway!

3 bedrooms - master en suite, huge drive way, decent sized garden, on a quiet cul de sac and with a huge park just down the road. It's everything i want, for a price that i can afford!!

The only thing is whether or not they will accept housing benefit. I'm really doubtful that they will but i can't ring until tomorrow so everyone cross every single part of your body that can possibly be crossed!!

I feel like a kid at christmas, i've fallen head over heels in love with it I'm gonna be heartbroken tomorrow if they say no

Just think of it this way - they would probably prefer you and alfie on housing benefit than 3 men in their early twenties who work and are more likely to party/trash house at weekends! At least housing benefit is a regular source of income too x

I never understand why they don't accept people on HB - they are less likely to miss their rent than someone who doesn't get help to pay it!

I get the money paid directly into my bank account which I then pay DD to landlord. However I did have to tell them I was getting HB as when you fill in the HB form there is a section for landlord to complete. I guess its so govt know that you actually are paying rent to someone and not just getting money for nothing!

Theres a box you tick on the form saying not to inform the landlord. Its naughty though as i think the landlord has to know for insurance purposes....but i would keep quite.

I've always thought it odd that some don't accept HB, like lisa said at least they are guaranteed the rent. Its worth a try though. When we moved in here the letting agent had a no pets policy. We said we had a dog and the agent asked the actual lanlord and he was fine with it.

Could you maybe get a reference from your current landlord?

More often than not it's the insurance companies that won't accept housing benefit, not the landlord!
