I had the misfortune to watch the opening sequence of ITNG this evening and I won't be doing it again.

Wil watches Waybaloo and that is bad enough but ITNG opening sequence is completely hypnotic and designed to lure kids in. It makes me mad that the TV companies think that it is acceptable to do this to children.

Needless to say we will be switching off before it starts in future.

BTW the soap operas do it too, amongst other programmes for adults.

am i missing something here, wht the hell is ITNG??

oliver is too much of a wriggle bum to watch too much tv, he will watch mickeymouse club house and peppapig and thats about it...his fave is mickeymouse and he stands the whole way though giving and ocasional bum wiggle saying 'gogog'(hotdog) then as soon as its finished he is off...i ocasionaly put the gummybear song on the pc...everytime i get the laptop out he runs up saying buggerbear(gummybear)...byut all in all he's much happier mooching around causing meyhem but i think some programes are good for kids to watch, like someone said teaching about sharing and stuff and also educational x

I don't have a problem with TV per se but I think it is important to be aware of the stunts they pull to draw you in and hook you. I am exceptionally cynical.

The comments about soaps/ Jezza making your lives seem better are beautiful because that is one of the things they are working at. Some of the stuff on soaps is designed to make you think 'maybe my life isn't so bad, it could be worse' so you won't get dissatisfied with your life and start to look for something better or question your lot in life.

Media is also used to distract us from what is really going on in the world. Consider how many times there is a major political issue going on when X Factor is at its peak or there is a major soap story line that spills into the papers that keeps the political or economic issues off the front pages.

after reading this earlier, got a bit board and googled subliminal messaging...it amazing some of the stuff they put in images...usually about sex, no wonder men are sex mad xx
